The Student Sustainability Engagement Program Manager is responsible for maintaining, expanding, and innovating student-facing sustainability programming that advances the Pitt Sustainability Plan and Pitt Climate Action Plan. The Manager oversees or influences Pittsburgh campus student-facing sustainability efforts, including the Student Office of Sustainability and its affiliated student organizations. This position reports to the Director of PittServes while working closely with sustainability-focused and -related staff across the university including (but not limited to) Auxiliaries, Facilities, Office of Sustainability, Student Affairs, and Communications.

Incumbent will work collaboratively across programs, departments, and divisions to develop and execute sustainability programs, projects, and initiatives that engage all members of the Pitt student community.

Incumbent will develop, implement, and evaluate all aspects of new and existing programming, including ongoing innovation of and improvements to programming. Incumbent will simultaneously manage multiple complex projects to evaluate program and projects as necessary to adjust for positive impact and influence necessary.

Incumbent will work closely with University-wide Office of Sustainability on campus-wide collaborations as well as reporting and tracking.

The Incumbent will supervise, mentor, and support the Student Office of Sustainability's (SOOS) strategy and student workers, who co-create and deploy campus-wide student-facing sustainability initiatives and programs.Incumbent will create and deliver education, training, and professional development for student-facing employees about new and existing multifaceted sustainability initiatives and accomplishments.

Incumbent will continue to embed diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice considerations into SOOS's sustainability-focused programs and trainingsIncumbent will advise 20+ Student Office of Sustainability affiliate organizations as neededIncumbent will oversee student-led Sustainability groups and functions, including:

Pitt (First-Year) Green Team, Pitt Green Fund (Advisory Board),

Environmental Justice Working Group Clutter for a Cause

Pitt Green Event designation and program,

Pitt Living Learning Sustainability Community,

Menstrual Equity student-led programs,

Pitt Green Student Organization designations.

Incumbent will manage student-facing Pitt Sustainability administrative and governance functions, including:

Managing SOOS physical space

Deploying all human resources functions related to hiring full-time and student employees.

Convening and advising the SOOS Council;

Elevating student voices in Pitt Sustainability program and initiative planning sessionsIncumbent will manage student-facing Sustainability financial functions, including:

Annual budget and financial tracking across multiple revenue sources and budget lines;

Regular, program, and annual reportsIncumbent will serve as Pitt Sustainability team's student sustainability expert, taking lead on communications, outreach, and presentations with internal and external stakeholders.

Incumbent will support Pitt Sustainability communications for internal and external audiences, including using and evolving relevant communications platforms (i.e., Sustainable.Pitt.edu website, Pitt Sustainability and SOOS-centric and related newsletters, and social media accounts).

Incumbent will serve as a member of following University groups & committees, providing sustainability expertise and ensuring student perspectives and success outcomes are incorporated:

Campus Basic Needs Committee Chancellor's Advisory Council on Sustainability and its subcommittees as determined,

Pitt Sustainability staff team,

Division of Student Affairs- Community and Inclusion team

Division of Student Affairs Welcome Week planning team.Incumbent will serve as sustainability subject matter expert for:

SOOS employees and student leaders.

Student Affairs leadership, staff, and program teams in order to fully incorporate the Pitt Sustainability and Climate Action Plan goals into the Division of Student Affairs;

Other departments, division(s), and groups as necessary.

Incumbent will support institutional special projects including, but not limited to, regular University-wide sustainability reporting and AASHE STARS triennial certification renewal.

All employees within the Division of Student Affairs will be required to perform duties outside of the department in which they are assigned. Additional assignments may include, but are not limited to Welcome Week Activities, Student Affairs Divisional committees and events, etc.

Experience can be considered in lieu of degree.

2 to 5 years of successful experience in sustainability, community organizing and/or environmental justice.

Must be able to develop positive and productive relationships with a diverse set of colleagues and stakeholders.

LEED Green Associate and/or other sustainability professional credentials encouraged.
