Sociology 101 Instructor
Allan Hancock College is accepting applications to establish a pool of qualified candidates to teach Sociology 101 at the Lompoc Valley Center for the fall 2017. The class meets Monday & Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. - 12:20 p.m.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master's in sociology
OR
Bachelor's in sociology
AND
Master's in anthropology, any ethnic studies, social work or psychology
OR
the equivalent per board policy 7211.

Special Qualification: Evidence of a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and to staff and students with disabilities.

Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged by the district as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for this position. SALARY
Lecture Rate: $45.44 to $69.58 per hour depending upon education and experience
Lab Rate: $39.57 to $60.58 per hour depending upon education and experience
Activity Rate: $29.24 to $45.64 per hour depending upon education and experience

SELECTION PROCESS
A committee will review applications. Meeting minimum qualifications does not assure a candidate an interview. Therefore, it is important that the application be thorough and detailed. Applicants will be assessed on the breadth and depth of education, training, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities. A limited number of applicants will be invited for an interview at the college at their own expense. Interviewed candidates may be asked to present a short teaching demonstration. Final candidates may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
