The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), a leading national research organization based in Washington, DC, seeks a research assistant. The research assistant will support a new initiative designed to connect low- and moderate-income households to financial resources to reduce their energy costs, make their homes healthy and safe, and reduce fossil fuel pollution. This is a multi-year national initiative with a goal to reach every community in the nation and make a real difference in people's lives.

Position Description:



The research assistant will be a member of ACEEE's health and environment program and will work with multiple teams across the organization, providing research, outreach, and administrative support. The research assistant will also work with partner organizations to identify financial resources and services available to low-income households and document those findings. The individual in this position will gain an understanding of the resources and services available to low-income households to reduce energy consumption and improve health and safety. The research assistant will play an integral role in a transformational project working to extend energy efficiency's benefits to under-resourced community members who have not traditionally reaped the full benefits of energy efficiency.





Core Responsibilities:



  • Support ACEEE teams working to develop a national database of energy efficiency retrofit resources and programs for low-income households.

  • Conduct research to identify programs and resources available to low-income households

  • Track research findings in database

  • Facilitate outreach to state and local governments, community-based organizations, and other key affordable housing stakeholders.

  • Find and manage contact information

  • Help conduct outreach

  • Track key project information and resources, helping to keep project on schedule.

  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and trainings, synthesizing notes and action items, and sharing out notes with attendees.

  • Track deliverable due dates and conduct follow-up on outstanding action items.

Qualifications:



  • Passionate about developing solutions that address the needs of low-income communities

  • Enthusiasm for clean energy and environmental issues, affordable housing, and/or social justice

  • Interest in the intersection of housing, energy, and health.



Required Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in social, political, or natural sciences



Preferred start date: October 2022. The position is located in Washington, DC or can be remote.



Salary: This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary range is $44,452 - $55,565. ACEEE's generous benefits package includes health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance coverage; a 403(b) retirement plan; transportation and bike-share benefits; three weeks of vacation in the first year and four weeks thereafter.
