Salary:
Anticipated Hiring Salary: $2,705 per month
Note: This full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week) position is temporary and expected to end on or before one year from the date of hire. Extension of this assignment is contingent upon sufficient additional funding and satisfactory performance. Eligible for medical, dental and vision benefits plus paid vacation, sick leave, etc.
Overview:
The Reprographics Specialist II is a classification skill level designed to cover the position that perform the full range of reprographics functions, high speed copying, digital printing, offset printing, Large Format, bindery and related services. Reprographics creates a wide range of print material and media including, but not limited to, campus stationery, brochures, newsletters, banners, posters, and signage reproduction. Incumbents receive master material from hard copy, digital or electronic media or on-line ordering programs; perform pre-press work, digital presses and high-speed copiers. In addition, incumbents proof materials and perform final finishing work such as binding, cutting and folding.
Position Summary:
Operate standard equipment, such as, but not limited to, high speed copiers, paper cutter, folder shrink wrapper, collator, booklet maker, drill, combing binding, tabber, inserter and addresser on a day-to-day basis
Produce standard variable data on high speed copiers
Prefer paper stock and other materials used in printing to customer regarding their print jobs
Manipulating color values and ensuring even density on the sheet and consistent color throughout the job using applicable equipment
Manipulate and set up files and equipment in the production of a wide range of specialized material and media such as brochures, business cards, greeting cards, posters, and banners
Troubleshoot equipment problems
Effective communication and customer service skills
Assist and or lead installation of large format materials
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of applicable U.S Postal Services requirements and processes related to standard and automated mailing processes and other shipping and receiving methods
Working knowledge of campus graphics standards and procedures
Familiarity with paper stock and other materials used in printing
Effective communication and customer service skills
Ability to:
o Operate standard, less complex equipment, such as, but not limited to, high speed copiers, single and two-color presses, paper/flat cutter, folder, shrink wrapper, collator, booklet maker, drill, comb binding, puncher, tabber, inserter and addresser and a variety of small precision measuring devices.
o Learn to perform basic maintenance on standard equipment quickly
o Troubleshoot equipment problems and refer more complex problems to higher-level reprographics staff
o Crouch and or climb ladders and reach overhead for long periods of time
o Follow and comply with all safety and work rule regulations
o Work within a diverse environment and be service oriented in working with customers which include staff, faculty and students and to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside of the print shop
A history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations
Education and Experience:
High school education or equivalent certification
Two years of experience operating press and reprographic equipment in a print shop environment
One year of production in the large format area that includes mounting substrates to rigged and or non-rigged material
Preferred Skills:
Experience with customer service and continuous quality improvements
Experience with developing creative and innovative business ideas
