Job Description:
Job Summary:

The Project Director for Migrant Education at SUNY Fredonia is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the Migrant Education Program serving children of migratory farmworkers and their families. This role involves program planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation to ensure the delivery of high-quality educational and support services to meet program outcomes. The Project Director will also be responsible for grant writing and compliance with sponsor, federal, and Research Foundation regulations.

Migrant Education Programs are federally funded initiatives aimed at addressing the unique educational needs of children who migrate with their families to engage in seasonal or temporary agricultural work. These programs are designed to ensure that migrant students have access to quality educational opportunities, receive academic support, and overcome barriers that can arise due to their mobility.

This program and staff provide educational services to students in eight counties: Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Erie, Wyoming, Alleghany, Stueben and Livingston and Genesee Counties (extensive travel is required for this position).

Job Duties (include but are not limited to):
  • Supervision and Program Management
    • Supervise, plan, and implement instructional and support services for children of migratory farmworkers and their families.
    • Ensure services are tailored to meet the educational needs of the target population.
    • Provide leadership and direction to program staff, including hiring, training, and ongoing supervision.

  • Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Monitor program activities and evaluate progress toward achieving program goals and objectives.
    • Prepare and submit programmatic reports to the sponsor on a regular basis.

  • Budget and Administrative Oversight:
    • Manage program budget, including budgeting, purchasing, and fiscal accountability.
    • Address personnel issues, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
    • Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting to track program outcomes.

  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with Migrant Education staff at the NYS Education Department, other regional directors, and Research Foundation personnel.
    • Engage with the Parent Advisory Council, campus personnel, community stakeholders, and service agencies.
    • Participate in professional development, state trainings, and consortium meetings.

  • Grant Writing and Compliance:
    • Write and edit grant proposals for continued funding.
    • Ensure compliance with all sponsor, federal, and Research Foundation regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Fiscal Management:
    • Monitor and manage fiscal accounts in collaboration with The Research Foundation for SUNY (fiscal agent).
    • Maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Requirements:
Required Education/ Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree in education or related field.
  • Demonstrated work experience in a school setting and/or educational environment.
  • Progressive leadership experience with strong administrative and supervisory skills.
  • Experience working with migrant or culturally diverse populations.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively and independently throughout the 8 designated counties.
  • Proficiency in technology tools, including virtual platforms and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Strong skills in data interpretation and reporting.
  • Proficiency in the Spanish language.

Additional Information:
Compensation for this position: The compensation for this role is between $65,000 and $75,000. The pay will depend on a variety of factors that may include but are not limited to experience, education, training, and certifications.

This position will have a SUNY Fredonia office presence but also requires extensive travel throughout the 8 counties served by the grant.
