Smith College has an opening for a Postdoctoral Scientist in the laboratory of Dr. Mary Harrington. This person will join a research program investigating the impact of circadian rhythm disruption on progression of Alzheimer's Disease.

Essential Functions:

The candidate will take a leading role in studies of mice with bioluminescent reporters of liver circadian clock rhythms in the context of aging and Alzheimer's Disease (5xFAD model). Research will progress toward development of chronotherapeutic approaches to impact disease progression, to achieve the aims of the NIH funding. Smith College undergraduates will be incorporated as research assistants. Applicants with experience working with mice in research settings and with expertise in conducting rigorous and reproducible neuroscience research are encouraged to apply. Training in circadian biology will be provided.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in neuroscience or a related field

Strong research record with evidence of high motivation and organization

Experience with statistical analysis

Able to communicate clearly, both in oral and written forms

Ability and willingness to work in a team-based environment including Smith College undergraduate students.

Preferred skills:

Training in time series and multivariate statistical analysis

Background in neurobiology of dementia and/or aging
