Job Description:
The Multimedia Content Creator brings Syracuse University to life through compelling content production. Based on the needs of the project, the multimedia content creator will use their artistic and technical skills to create content from concept to creation. The Multimedia Content Creator understands and can consistently and effectively bring the Syracuse University brand to life by following brand guidelines. The multimedia content creator works in partnership with other members of the multimedia team to follow stylistic approaches, to use equipment effectively and to archive footage consistently. This position works closely with marketing, digital/social and content strategy teams to advance business objectives by use of multimedia assets. Uses marketing best practices to produce multimedia content and has competency in applying best practices and techniques.

Qualifications:
  • A bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Three (3) plus years experience working in a high performing marketing operation.
  • Track-record of producing effective multimedia content for use across the marketing platforms.
  • Demonstrated skills in shooting and editing. Deep knowledge of multimedia equipment.
  • Excellent interviewing skills.


Job Specific Qualifications:
  • Understanding of marketing and brand stewardship best practices. Track-record of working within brand guidelines.
  • Ability to work quickly and effectively under deadlines.
  • Strong abilities in post-production and video-editing.
  • Ability to configure, operate and maintain studio and/or field audio, lighting and associated production equipment.
  • Knowledge of computerized tape editing applications and procedures.
  • Knowledge of professional audio and/or video tape editing and post-production procedures, techniques, and standards.
  • Close visual acuity to perform tasks related the production of video content including visual framing, color grading, color temperature, focus and the use of color charts.
  • Ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, including professional voiceover, audio equipment and appropriate audio levels.
  • Frequently moves Audio/Visual equipment across campus to various sites and for events; ability to move, lift, set up and break down photography and videography equipment. Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. repeatedly at multiple assignments.
  • Flexibility and ability to position oneself to shoot a variety of images. Photo/video shoots may require standing, sitting, and kneeling for 4-8 hours.


Responsibilities:
  • Plays critical role in bringing the Syracuse University brand to life effectively and consistently though compelling multimedia deliverables. Based on the needs of the project, the content creator will use their artistic and technical skills to create content from concept to production. Ideates, produces, creates, edits, multimedia content. Operates multimedia equipment, on location or in the studio, works with strategy, creative and digital teams and subjects to create compelling content for various platforms. Can turn raw or fully packaged content within a few hours or a day when needed. Excellent communicator and problem-solver, can pivot or adjust before, during or after shoots based on changing deadlines or situations.



  • Designs, transports, sets up, and operates production equipment, including audio and lighting equipment, for field and studio productions. Edits content for quick turn content production.

  • Partners with marketing, digital/social and content strategy teams to advance business objectives by use of multimedia. Uses marketing best practices to capture multimedia content that is oriented to galvanize target audiences.

  • Completes troubleshooting and preventive maintenance reports on video and audio production equipment; assists in repair and upkeep of studio and production sets and properties. Maintains equipment inventory and field and studio production schedules. Some night and weekend work required.
