Job Description

The Email Marketing Specialist is a key member of a high-performing marketing department whose mission is to keep Boston College alumni, parents, and friends engaged and participating with the university. This position will be supervised by the Email Marketing Manager reporting up to the Senior Associate Director, Digital Technology & Operations, and collaborates closely with internal partners/clients to deliver engaging digital content to key constituents utilizing email and other digital media.

This individual is tasked with designing, building, and sending a large volume of emails on behalf of the Office of University Advancement (UA). This person also assures the quality of the content and the functionality across digital platforms. This person will help shape, adhere to, and help enforce the policies and processes that guide UA's email marketing efforts. Aside from making sure this process runs smoothly, the Email Marketing Specialist will help inform and set strategy with the goal of increasing effectiveness and performance.

This person will also be asked to help the department leverage the full range of digital channels, including our website, blogs, social channels, and mobile, in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of email communications.

Essential Functions:
  • Design, build, and send outbound broadcast emails on behalf of University Advancement to Boston College alumni, parents, and friends;
  • Assist in Managing the University Advancement Broadcast Email calendar.
  • Support and adhere to Advancement Marketing and Communications' quality testing process for broadcast emails; and assure that all broadcast emails are free of error, work across all platforms, and adhere to current SPAM filter standards
  • Help enforce the divisions' broadcast email policy; proactively collect content, data, and scheduling details from clients and stakeholders
  • Assist with tracking performance of broadcast emails and digital content, and make recommendations to the team based on this data
  • Make recommendations on email-related tools and technologies adopted by the University to determine if and how they can best be leveraged

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $52,400 to $65,500; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, with a focus on Email Studio.
  • A bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in building emails, web pages, e- newsletters, online forms, mobile and social media content, and other features.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Adobe web tools (Photoshop and Dreamweaver), and experience working within a content management system.
  • A firm grasp of email marketing, digital content, mobile marketing, and social media strategy.
  • Experience testing emails and web content for both performance and functionality across all platforms.
  • Familiarity with email metrics and reporting, as well as with Google Analytics.
  • Solid writing skills with ability to design web graphics, optimize photos, and troubleshoot html, CSS, and browser display issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills
