OVERVIEW OF CCA

The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Professional Development provides leadership for professional development for faculty and instructors in support of student learning and faculty development. The Director develops and maintains positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff at Community College of Aurora, as well as with the Colorado Community College System, and other stakeholders.
The creation and implementation of this position had been funded through a Developing Hispanic Serving Institution Title V Grant. This position is now fully funded and institutionalized by the Community College Aurora.



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Contribute to the strategic plan for professional development for the Academic Success division.
  • Execute the strategic plan for professional development through effective operations.
  • Design and direct innovative and equitable professional development programming in a variety of modalities.
  • Ensure that professional development supports discipline, division, and institutional needs.
  • Develop professional development based on current trends in higher education, evidence-based practices, and Achieving the Dream Teaching and Learning Toolkit.
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues from across the college to develop robust and comprehensive resources that support, among others, the acquisition of cultural competence; diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and practices; and student-centered practices.
  • Provide consultation and training on data-literacy and research design to foster data-informed decisions that contribute to an increase in success, persistence, retention, and completion rates.
  • Manage department budget and efficiently allocate resources.
  • Onboard, train, contract, and manage activities of professional development, which may include those provided by collaborators and partners.
  • Coordinate professional development processes, technology, and communication.
  • Use data-informed decision making and report on progress and impact of professional development.
  • Facilitate presentations, workshops, consulting, and coaching as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.




REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree, preferably English, Communication, or Education from an accredited institution
  • 5 or more years of fulltime teaching experience in a community college, in person and online.
  • Experience in instructional design.
  • Experience in assessment design.
  • Experience in designing and leading professional development for faculty and instructors an academic setting.
  • Experience using advanced educational technologies in higher education.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Expertise in higher education professional development trends and best practices, including the design, implementation, and assessment of evidence-based strategies.
  • Ability to support diverse populations and wide-ranging needs among students, faculty, and the community.
  • Ability to select and provide digital learning solutions to support the teaching and learning needs of faculty and students.
  • Ability to employ systematic planning and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Experience partnering with cross-divisional staff.
  • Experience leading faculty and instructors.
  • Experience managing a budget.
  • Experience with department and program assessment in an academic area.
  • Understanding of fair use laws and copyright.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English.





SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Salary Range: Anticipated starting salary range is $75,000.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent , including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
