In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Job Summary
The primary purpose of the Director of Student Affairs for COMP-Northwest is to develop and manage the operations of COMP-Northwest Office of Student Affairs and to ensure that all department responsibilities are handled in an accurate and timely manner. The Director of Student Affairs works collaboratively with other WesternU Oregon Offices of Student Affairs and COMP Office of Student Affairs to advocate for the individual and collective needs of students, to communicate and direct students to support resources, to encourage and provide opportunities for students to achieve balance between academics and their personal lives, and to grow in the ways needed to maximize their professional potential.

This position reports to the Vice President of WesternU Oregon Student Affairs.

Required Qualifications
  1. Three or more years experience in management experience in a health professionals institution or institution of higher learning.
  2. Masters Degree or higher is required, preferably in Education, Basic Science, Healthcare Specialty, Human Sciences, or a related field. Doctorate Degree or Doctorate in process is highly preferred.


Preferred Qualifications
Preferences will be given to those with previous experience in this or a related field.

Responsible for the accurate and timely submission of all required paperwork for college and student-initiated status changes. Makes daily decisions on requests for time-off according to policy and ensures that the beginning and end of all status changes are reported to appropriate departments and the registrars office according to policy.

Closely monitors and stays in contact with "Students in Greatest Need" to ensure that students who are experiencing personal or academic difficulty are supported and made aware of all available resources. Ensures all communications and resource recommendations are documented and communicated to the appropriate entities according to procedure.

Oversees student services and resources for COMP-Northwest students, and serves as a liaison between students, service departments, faculty, and administration on all student related matters. Ensures that at least one member of the Office of Student Affairs staff (or a designated backup) is on campus during office hours for in person inquiries and ensures that inquiries submitted via email, or the ticketing system are resolved according to procedure. Organizes and facilitates monthly student town halls.

Creates and updates various reports to track internal progress and to communicate the activities of the OSA with other members of the WesternU team. These include but are not limited to Registrar Paperwork Tracking, Time-Off Request Reports, and the results of various surveys administered to students.

Collaborates with University Student Affairs to advise all club and college class officers regarding their needs, and activities. This includes meeting with students as needed and organizing transition retreats for class officers. Advises club leaders who are planning in-person events.

Ensures the timely preparation and maintenance of all academic records for each student in an accurate, organized, secure manner. This includes ensuring all paperwork and records are saved in the students electronic files.

Plans, organizes, and implements all Office of Student Affairs events and faculty advising system. Events include Welcome Week activities, White Coat ceremony, Awards events, Club Day, banquets, and celebrations. Assists WesternU Oregon Commencement/Convocation chair and team as needed. Effectively collaborates with members of the college and University for seamless events including contracts management. In addition, coordinates the faculty advising system and various co-curricular activities designed to help students achieve the best possible balance between academics and their personal lives, and to grow in the ways needed to maximize their professional potential.

Creates, updates, and enforces policies and procedures in collaboration with COMP Office of Student Affairs and the WesternU Oregon Offices of Student Affairs. Collaborates with the college administrators on annual college catalog and accreditation updates and enforces all college/university policies and procedures as well as program specific and WASC accreditation standards.

Actively participates as an ex-officio member of committees including:
  • The Student Performance Committee: Prepares students for committee meetings and covers the topics in the corresponding procedure. Ensures that decisions of the SPC/Dean are communicated to and clarified for students within one week, and that all corresponding status changes are filed with the registrars office.
  • The Awards Committee: Shares information regarding student leadership, student community service activities, participation in student organizations and personal qualities.
  • The Admissions Committee: Shares information regarding concerns observed with currently enrolled students and proposes ways in which the admissions committee can better select students for anticipated success.
  • The University Student Affairs Council: Learns and shares best practices, acquires, and disseminates information that may impact COMP-Northwest students.
