Director of Computing Programs, Roux Institute & Open Rank

About Northeastern:
Founded in 1898, Northeastern is a global research university and the recognized leader in experience-driven lifelong learning. Our world-renowned experiential approach empowers our students, faculty, alumni, and partners to create impact far beyond the confines of discipline, degree, and campus.

Our locations-in Boston; Charlotte, North Carolina; London; Portland, Maine; San Francisco; Seattle; Silicon Valley; Toronto; Vancouver; and the Massachusetts communities of Burlington and Nahant-are nodes in our growing global university system. Through this network, we expand opportunities for flexible, student-centered learning and collaborative, solutions-focused research.

Northeastern's comprehensive array of undergraduate and graduate programs- in a variety of on-campus and online formats-lead to degrees through the doctorate in nine colleges and schools. Among these, we offer more than 195 multi-discipline majors and degrees designed to prepare students for purposeful lives and careers.

About the Opportunity:
The Khoury College of Computer Sciences invites applications for positions at the rank of Associate Teaching Professor or Teaching Professor and Director of Computing Programs at Northeastern's Roux Institute, located in Portland, Maine. The position would be responsible for deployment and oversight of a variety of Computer Science and Data Science programming, both in the degree and certificate space, as well as in non-degree programming, particularly in collaboration with Roux Institute Partners.

Northeastern's Roux Institute is designed as an engine of innovation, talent, and economic growth in Portland, the state of Maine, and the region. Partnership is what sets our education and research model apart. With leading companies at the table from day one, we're together creating an agile workforce prepared to thrive in a competitive landscape powered by artificial intelligence, and an environment for innovation in the life sciences and other high-growth sectors.

Khoury College currently offers the Master of Science in Computer Science, and the Master of Science in Data Science program is jointly offered by the College of Engineering. Both of these programs can be pursued by students with undergraduate degrees outside of computing through Align, Northeastern's most innovative and mission driven program (https://www.khoury.northeastern.edu/information-for-overview/prospective-align-pillar/).

Through its commitment to Align, Khoury College aims to close America's tech diversity gap. The ideal candidate will be able to combine strong leadership skills, demonstrated administrative experience, an entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to increasing diversity in computer science to create a strategic vision for growth of programs in the region.

In addition to this programming, the Director will be engaged in the development and deployment of programming emerging from our Institute for Experiential Artificial Intelligence, a global University Institute dedicated to building talent and undertaking research involving human-in-the-loop AI.

Finally, the Roux Institute is developing and deploying customized embedded and experiential learning experiences with its 65+ corporate partners. The Director will therefore have substantial responsibility for driving the development of such programming through learning discovery conversations and collaborative development work with faculty and industry leaders.

Responsibilities:
The Director will teach two courses per year and will have the opportunity to recruit full and part-time faculty to enrich our courses at the Portland, Maine campus, and ultimately throughout the network of campuses that comprise the University. They are responsible for managing the workload of a cadre of teaching faculty located at the Portland, Maine campuses and for collaborating with the Director of Professional Programs and the Director of Life Science and Engineering Program to share best practices and identify collaborative teaching opportunities.

The Director will be expected to collaborate with and learn from faculty and administration in all of the Northeastern Network Campuses on curriculum development, student recruitment, student experience, corporate relationship development, and staffing. The director will act as a primary ambassador of Northeastern's computational programs, interfacing with industry, philanthropic supporters and strategic partners to build the program's brand and reach.

The Portland, Maine campus presents an opportunity to enroll a substantial number of high-quality students and build relationships with major corporations located in Maine and across Northern New England. The program director will be charged with building an innovative and dynamic academic atmosphere that contributes to the university's mission of redefining graduate education. The position requires an entrepreneurial spirit and strategic vision to guide program growth. Included in this growth is the development of customized and curated curricular experiences embedded within our corporate partners.

The Director must be a professional who can work with Northeastern faculty and staff to develop deep academic and employment relationships with regional industry, enjoys interacting with students, and has an entrepreneurial bent to grow something unique in higher education.

Qualifications:
Candidates will be considered from all areas in Computer and Information Science. A PhD in Computer Science, Information Science or a related field is required. 5 years of teaching experience in computer science or related field is preferred.
