Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of Content, the Content Project Manager (PM) is a team player who will manage the entire life cycle of projects/content creation from conception to creation. They will manage multiple projects simultaneously and initiate planning with marketing channel leaders (creative design/video/photo, digital/social, analytics, etc.) use project management software to create, ensure smooth execution plans, and evaluate the project for refinements. The PM will also ensure that the project is delivered on time and on budget. They will work closely with strategists, writers, digital and social teams, designers, multimedia team, and leadership to coordinate preparation of various types of content that effectively and authentically position Syracuse University via storytelling and advance priority goals. They will act as the primary project management lead for all enterprise content projects, while owning and reinforcing the content production schedule and facilitating projects from sourcing, pitching, vetting, concepting, production and distribution. The PM will also be the lead on developing project plans for and managing production of the Syracuse University Magazine, working closely with the editor-in-chief and other team members.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, advertising, management, project management, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management/producer/traffic experience.
  • Evidence of strong project management skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing demands.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and problem solve.


Job Specific Qualifications:
  • Detail and deadline oriented, accurate and efficient, must be able to manage multiple content projects at once, while working effectively under the pressure of tight deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Exceptional communication skills, particularly in working well with diverse colleagues in a complex and fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent use of standard office communication tools like MS Word, Excel and Outlook required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen, understand and translate information to day-to-day project management responsibilities.
  • Use of and familiarity with project management platforms (e.g., Workfront) is a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Excellent proofreading and strong writing skills is a plus.
  • Experience in and understanding of print and digital production processes is a plus.
  • Close visual acuity to perform tasks related to production of content and design and ability to meet with campus partners in person or attend events on campus to source and produce timely, relevant content as part of broader storytelling efforts.


Responsibilities:
  • Manage content projects and workflow through use of enterprise technology tools ensuring all content projects are on schedule and on budget. Oversee enterprise content projects from conception to creation/deployment; provide excellent customer service, documentation/status reporting and exceed expectations with polished, best-in-class deliverables. With great attention to detail, develop communications to provide project status, project plans, milestones and to generate exceptional project deliverables. Delegate project tasks to teammates as appropriate. The PM will be responsible for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of enterprise storytelling and marketing in terms of strategy and guidance in order to achieve stated goals. The PM will manage multiple projects in various stages and work with others in the division of marketing to coordinate content across channels and platforms.
  • Manage the production life cycle of enterprise content and the Syracuse University Magazine, sourcing distribution, with a focus on timely delivery, including working directly with content strategists and channel teams, when applicable, and with external vendors on project specifications and production. Act as quality check for team deliverables before they go live or prior to handing off to partners.
  • Participate in weekly content, concepting and project planning meetings etc. and facilitate clear, proactive, collaborative communications with channel and project teams. Communicate clearly and approachably with teammates regarding project requests and progress and to learn and share best practices, new skills and experience. Stay up to date on industry best practices in omni-channel marketing as well as changes in modern best practices Use of project management platform, Workfront, as appropriate, to manage projects.
  • Generate regular reports on project performance metrics, milestones achieved, and key learnings for continuous improvement. Conduct post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions to capture insights and best practices for future projects.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with service providers (i.e., printers, outside designers, product providers). Maintain relevant and current knowledge of the higher education marketing industry.
