OVERVIEW OF CCA

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is a part-time assignment, created to meet the instructional needs of the department in the following content areas:
  • Revit Architecture
  • SolidWorks

Our part-time instructors teach introductory (1000-level) and intermediate (2000-level) courses for transfer, as well as terminal degree/certificate pathways. Class assignments may include teaching day and/or evening classes in different modalities (face-to-face, online or hybrid).

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate a wide range of skillsets (and/or occupational experience) in design/drafting related to engineering, construction, graphic design, 3D printing, 3D scanning, or other drafting related skills/certifications.

Our part-time instructors are an integral part of the instructional team. Student retention and success are our top priorities, and we expect our instructors to work collaboratively with our faculty and staff to achieve this goal for our diverse student population.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primary teaching duties will include teaching any/all of the following CAD courses:
    1. CAD 2220 Revit Architecture,
    2. CAD 2450 SolidWorks Basics
    3. CAD 2451 SolidWorks Intermediate
    4. CAD 2455 SolidWorks/Mechanical
There may be the opportunity to be assigned additional courses in Engineering, as needed.
  • Teach the assigned courses in keeping with the mission of the college (https://ccaurora.edu/about- cca/mission/). A commitment to student academic success is essential.
  • Develop (with assistance from the Department Chair/Lead Faculty) content, activities and assessments that lead to the successful attainment of the identified course competencies established in the Colorado Common Course Numbering System (CCNS).
  • Provide content and graded deliverables in a timely manner to inform students about their progress and opportunities that will allow students to succeed.
  • Make use of latest tools and technology (including computers, application software, communication tools, audio/visual equipment, etc.) for instructional effectiveness, in addition to being willing to learn and apply any other new technology necessary to enhance learning.
  • One week prior to the first day of class, provide the Department Chair/Lead Faculty with a copy of the course syllabus for review.
  • On the first day of class, provide students with a syllabus for the course that includes all components of the model syllabus and the competencies established in the Colorado Common Course Numbering System (CCNS).
  • Be knowledgeable about pedagogy, user-centered course design, retention, inclusion, and assessment of outcomes, or be available and willing to receive professional development trainings in these areas.
  • Conduct student evaluations of instruction in accordance with established policies and procedures at the end of the semester.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and grading of students in the college learning management system-Desire2Learn (D2L)-and submit required records according to published instructions and deadlines.
  • Complete the mandatory trainings - D2L, New Faculty and Instructor Orientation, and Web Accessibility. Instructors must also complete the Foundations of Online Teaching and Learning training to be eligible for teaching online courses.
  • Attend required department/faculty meetings as required by the Department Chair.
  • Participate in coaching/mentoring and assessment initiatives established by Department Chair/Lead Faculty.




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in engineering or a related field AND 4000 verifiable occupational/industry hours within the past 7 years,

OR

Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or a related field AND 2000 verifiable occupational/industry hours within the past 7 years
  • Eligible for CTE credentialing in the state of Colorado
  • Knowledge of and experience with relevant CAD software
  • Demonstrated excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Commitment to engaging students in a meaningful way in the classroom
  • Available to teach days and/or evenings

PREFERRED QULALIFICATIONS:
  • College-level teaching experience
  • Professional Certifications:
    1. Certified SolidWorks Expert (CSWE) certification in Design/Engineering
    2. Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit for Architectural Design
  • Experience with presenting content using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, project-based, industry-related, problem solving) in order to adapt to varied learning styles
  • Experience with a learning management system (LMS)
  • Demonstrated commitment to DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) and impacting underrepresented students




SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:


Salary: Instructional hours will be paid at the current Instructor rate, which is $1051.00 per credit hour.
