Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Job Summary
Provides support for the library by overseeing the operations of the Circulation department, supervising work of evening staff and library student assistants.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

1. Ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

2. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; includes interpersonal skills and working in teams.

3. Excellent decision-making and analytical abilities to resolve patron and department issues.

4. Good mathematical skills.

5. Good computer skills necessary to set up document formats in Word, Excel, and any other software programs required by the position.

6. Experience with general office machinery including fax, copy machine, printers and telephone operation.

7. Knowledge of library procedures, and medical/scientific terminology helpful.

Required Qualifications
1. Education: Bachelors degree in library science, education or related field from an accredited institution required; any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Advanced degree in Library science, education or related field from an accredited institution preferred.

2. Experience: Three or more years of academic or public library experience in a supervisory role responsible for Circulation staff. Experience with providing reference assistance required. Processing interlibrary loans and document delivery and medical library experience preferred.

1. Supervise and train circulation staff and student assistants who work in the evening. Includes scheduling staff, signing time cards, setting goals, coaching staff, monitoring performance, and writing evaluations. Interview, hire and terminate employment of circulation staff.
