Job Description

Assistant Director
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $51,350 to $64,200; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

The Assistant Director of the Lonergan Institute (ADLI) reports to the Director of the Lonergan Institute. Working closely with the Director, the ADLI coordinates a wide array of activities that promote ongoing scholarly work in Lonergan studies. Boston College is the world premier institution for graduate and undergraduate study of Lonergan's thought and serves as a major hub of research in Lonergan studies. The daily activities of the Lonergan Institute demand a great deal of knowledge of unique and specific content in Lonergan studies. Working closely with the Director and faculty at BC and other universities, the ADLI supports faculty and scholars in bringing Lonergan's thought and methodology to bear on issues facing contemporary Philosophy and Theology and the Church in the 21st century. Thus, the ADLI should have sufficient (at least some post baccalaureate-level) knowledge of Lonergan's thought, his extensive body of work and current directions in Lonergan scholarship as well as some familiarity with the philosophical and theological traditions that inform them.



Requirements

Some graduate studies in either Philosophy or Theology along with a fairly extensive background in Lonergan studies is necessary to fulfill the scope of this position.

The position requires a good deal of experience with creating and implementing academic projects and programming, and at least some familiarity with academic structures and systems. Supervisory experience required.

Some evening and weekend work.
