*Overview:
The Civil Engineering Program, Department of Civil & Geomatics Engineering, Lyles College of Engineering, California State University, Fresno, offers an accredited program in Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering, and a Master of Science (MS) in Civil Engineering. The Lyles College of Engineering is the one and only publicly supported engineering college in the San Joaquin Valley, Central California. The program currently serves approximately 400 students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

*Position Summary:
The Department of Civil & Geomatics Engineering at the Lyles College of Engineering, California State University, Fresno seeks applicants for a tenure-track, academic year position as an Assistant Professor in Transportation Engineering with emphasis in one or more of the following areas: Freight Transportation (e.g. Freight Behavior, Freight Transportation Modeling, Commercial Vehicle Operations, Urban Freight Systems, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Autonomous Freight Systems), Air Transportation (e.g. Air Transportation Systems or Airport Engineering), and/or Transportation Safety. Applicants with expertise in other area(s) of Transportation Engineering will also be considered. The successful candidate is expected to teach and interact with undergraduate and graduate students, conduct scholarly and applied research, and engage in service-related activities. The BSCE program is a broad-based program; as such the candidate will be expected to teach general civil engineering lecture/laboratory courses. The candidate is also expected to incorporate his/her research, experience, and technological tools into course work as appropriate. Specific assignments will depend on department needs. A professional license in Civil Engineering in California must be obtained during the probationary period to receive tenure. Candidates from underrepresented groups are highly encouraged to apply.

*Required Education:
An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering or a closely-related discipline from an accredited institution (or equivalent) is required. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered. For appointment, the doctorate must be completed by the date of appointment (August 17, 2018). A Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a closely related engineering field, is also required.

*Required Experience:
Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

*Preferred Qualifications:
1) Teaching experience at university level; 2) Evidence of scholarly articles and conference presentations; 3) Experience attracting sponsored research from external resources; 4) Professional experience as a Civil Engineer.
