The Finance, Real Estate and Law Department in the College of Business Administration at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2019. Candidate's specializations in Business Law are especially welcomed to apply.

The Position: The new faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate classes in business law and international law. The successful candidate must also have a strong commitment to research and scholarly activities, and service to the Department, College, University and Community. Applicants whose work incorporates a global perspective and a commitment to diversity in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a Juris Doctorate (J.D.), including completion of graduate-level business law coursework, from an ABA-approved law school. Candidates in the final stage may apply, but a Juris Doctorate must be completed by August 1, 2019.

  • Maintain an active state law license

  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching business law, international business law, and/or contract law courses

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and/or service and work as well as experience in engaging with and working in an inclusive environment


Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Significant undergraduate and graduate coursework in business

  • Corporate law experience and background

  • Previous publications in law journals or law reviews

  • Business related law practice

  • Teaching experience at university level

  • Experience in Financial Planning

  • evidence of excellence in teaching and research

  • a transcript showing highest degree earned (an official transcript will be required of finalists); and

  • finalists for the position will be required to provide three recent letters of reference

  • finalists for the position are expected to make a scholarly presentation

  • a Student Success Statement about your teaching, or other experiences, successes, and challenges in working with a diverse student population (approximately one page, single-spaced)
