WHAT YOU'LL DO
Under the general supervision of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of technical duties in support of college services for students with disabilities.
There is currently one full-time (12 months/year, 40 hours/week) vacancy located at Ventura College.
This recruitment is being conducted to establish a list of eligible candidates that will be used to fill district-wide, current and upcoming, non-bilingual and bilingual, temporary and regular vacancies for the duration of the list, not to exceed one year.

Established in 1925, Ventura College was one of the first community colleges in California and currently has an enrollment of 14,500 students. Located approximately 60 miles north of Los Angeles and 30 miles south of Santa Barbara, the 112-acre campus is set in the rolling hills of Ventura - so close to the ocean that there is a clear view of the Channel Islands from several spots on campus.

SALARY PLACEMENTGenerally, salary placement is on the first step of the salary range. Advanced step placement may be granted depending on related education and experience.
Current Employees: An employee who is promoted will be placed on the salary step of the new range of the appropriate salary schedule that provides a minimum increase comparable to a one-step increase in salary.

Representative Duties
Assist in the coordination and implementation of services for students with disabilities. E
Provide information, training, and assistance regarding resources, equipment, supplies, and services available to students with various disabilities. E
Instruct students in the proper operation of specialized software and equipment; check out appropriate equipment, aids, and supplies to students; monitor return of equipment, and maintain appropriate inventory. E
Research and recommend equipment to be purchased that meets the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements; determine and maintain appropriate inventory of equipment. E
Provide specialized registration assistance for students with disabilities. E
Recruit, train, schedule, and provide work direction to student workers; recruit and schedule readers, scribes, note takers, proctors, and tutors. E
Maintain student records according to established procedures. E
Prepare and disseminate correspondence and other information in an accessible format. E
Compile, organize, and summarize data for various reports; maintain and update databases, reports, and records; develop or prepare required program and governmental agency forms and reports. E
Research and provide input and support to the budget development process; record and monitor expenditures; maintain current budget information. E
Perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties including monitoring and purchasing office inventory, inputting requisitions, processing invoices, updating the program website, and composing and distributing various forms, documents, and outreach materials. E
Organize and participate in disability services outreach activities.
Participate in a variety of District committees, task forces, special assignments, and related trainings.
Work collaboratively and professionally with faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, and ethnic communities. E
Demonstrate cultural humility, sensitivity, and equity-mindedness in working with individuals from diverse communities; model inclusive behaviors; and achieve equity in assignment-related outcomes. E
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency AND three years of experience providing support services to people with disabilities.
ORAn associate degree from a recognized college or university AND two years of experience providing support services to people with disabilities.ORA bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university AND one year of experience providing support services to people with disabilities.

EXAMINATION AND SELECTION PROCESS:
This is an examination open to the public and current district employees seeking a promotional opportunity. To ensure consideration, please submit your application materials by Tuesday, October 20 at 11:59PM.
The examination process may consist of any of the following components:
A) Training and Experience Evaluation = Qualifying (pass/fail)
B) Technical Interview and Performance Exam = 100% weighting on final score
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE (T&E) EVALUATION:
A T&E is an assessment of training and experience, beyond the minimum requirements, that has prepared the candidate for the position as evidenced in the application materials. Please be sure to answer every component of each supplemental question as your responses will be scored and serve as your score on the training and experience (T&E) evaluation.
The candidates with the highest passing scores on the T&E will be invited to the technical interview.
TECHNICAL INTERVIEW DATE RANGE AND LOCATION:
Date Range: Thursday, November 5, 2026 - Thursday, November 12, 2026
Location: The Technical Interview will likely be conducted remotely, using Zoom. To participate, you must have access to a computer with a camera, microphone, speakers, and a reliable connection to the internet.
The examination components and dates are subject to change as needs dictate. All communication regarding this process will be delivered via email.

ELIGIBILITY LIST:
This position is part of the Senior Management Service in accordance with the provisions of the Education Code. Passing candidates will be placed on an unranked eligibility list that will be established to fill vacancies for one year.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
All appointments made from eligibility lists for initial appointment or for promotion, with certain exceptions, shall be probationary for a period of six (6) months or one hundred thirty (130) days of paid service, whichever is longer. Classified management, police, and designated executive classifications shall be probationary for a period of one (1) year of paid service from initial appointment or promotion.
