Job Summary
The Package Room Supervisor oversees all aspects of the Sunnyside Apartments package room, including receiving, processing, storage, distribution, and delivery. This position is responsible for maintaining excellent customer service and continually evaluating and improving package-room processes to better serve residents. The supervisor hires, trains, schedules, and supervises one full-time employee and a team of part-time employees. Coordinate and lead daily team activities. Develop and monitor key performance metrics and prepare reports for management. May spend a portion of time performing the work of those they supervise.

Responsibilities
Package Room Operations & Customer Service
* Oversee all package-room operations, including receiving, scanning, recording, sorting, storing, distributing, and delivering packages, while monitoring volume, workflow, staffing, and storage capacity.
* Develop and continuously improve procedures for accurate, prompt processing, and ensure timely tracking and resolution of unclaimed, damaged, missing, misdelivered, returned, or incorrectly addressed packages.
* Maintain accurate package records, protect resident information, and keep the package room, storage areas, equipment, and workspaces safe, secure, clean, and organized.
* Coordinate with delivery companies and University partners to resolve operational concerns and improve delivery processes.
* Provide direct package-room support during high-volume periods, employee absences, or other operational needs.
* Establish and maintain high standards for courteous, professional, responsive customer service, and communicate policies and procedures clearly and consistently.
Staff Supervision
* Hire, onboard, train, schedule, and supervise one full-time employee and assigned part-time employees; assign daily responsibilities and adjust staffing based on package volume and operational needs.
* Establish clear expectations for customer service, attendance, safety, accuracy, confidentiality, and professional conduct, and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, recognition, and development.
* Conduct performance evaluations, address performance or conduct concerns per University policy, and review and approve employee time records and leave requests.
* Coordinate adequate staffing coverage for regular operations, employee absences, holidays, weekends, and high-volume delivery periods.
* Lead staff meetings, maintain written operating procedures and training materials, and foster a collaborative, accountable, service-oriented work environment.
Package Cart Program
* Oversee the resident package-cart checkout program, maintaining accurate records of cart locations, assigned users, checkout times, and return status.
* Routinely inspect carts and arrange for cleaning, maintenance, repair, or replacement; monitor availability and recommend purchasing additional carts when operationally justified.
* Identify opportunities to improve the convenience, accessibility, and accountability of the cart program.
Additional Responsibilities
* Communicate staffing needs, operational concerns, and recommended improvements to the appropriate manager.
* Participate in departmental meetings, training, planning, and special projects.
* Perform other related duties as assigned
Senior Supervisor Direct/Manage/Supervise the workflow and daily activities of shipping and receiving operations. Implement and maintain effective outbound shipping processes to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of orders. Ensure incoming freight is tracked and warehoused appropriately. Monitor the unloading of all materials into the receiving area. Maintain shipping and receiving records and documentation. Investigate and resolve issues related to shipping and receiving, such as damaged goods, delays, and discrepancies. Coordinate product returns and repairs. Develop and monitor key performance metrics and prepare reports related to safety, waste, quality, and productivity. Develop and deliver employee training on safe operation of material-handling equipment. Coordinates and leads daily team activities. May spend a portion of time performing the work of those they supervise. Assists with management decisions and activities. Working knowledge of team function within the organization.Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.This is a Senior Supervisor-Level position in the Management track.Job Code: M23452

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Senior Supervisor, Shipping / Receiving Management: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
Manager, Shipping / Receiving Management: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
Preferences
* Experience supervising full-time and part-time employees.
* Experience overseeing a package room, mailroom, shipping and receiving operation, delivery service, or inventory function.
* Experience using package-tracking, electronic locker, inventory, or property-management software.
* Experience developing procedures or implementing customer-service and process improvements.
* Experience working in student housing, multifamily housing, higher education, hospitality, or another residential environment.
