What We are Looking For
Baylor University is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Accountant who will have responsibility for payroll data analysis, post-payroll reconciliations, and ensuring accuracy and completeness of payroll activities in the Oracle Cloud Human Capital Management and Finance system.
A bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience are required. A master's degree and five years of experience is preferred.
A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of one another.
Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.
What You Will Do
- Maintain, review, and improve payroll accounting procedures to ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of payroll transactions including wages, benefit deductions, garnishments, statutory withholding and net pay
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders in HR, Benefits, Accounting, and Cash Management to ensure accuracy of payroll disbursements and accounting entries each Biweekly and Monthly pay period
- Provide continuous review and analysis of payroll data to support accurate payroll processing
- Responsible for monitoring, reconciling, and maintaining tax filings and invoices on a pay period basis
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of quarterly and annual tax reconciliations and transmission of tax files
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of payroll-related liability accounts, including clearing accounts, tax liabilities, and benefit liabilities
- Ensure the accuracy of Payroll accounting entries coinciding with monthly financial close procedures
- Support the accurate processing and recording of labor cost allocations to general ledger and project ledger
- Assist campus users in understanding and working with payroll data
- Support and facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
- Ability to comply with University policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
