Research Quest Marketing Intern

Job Summary

Are you passionate about education, science, and digital communications?

We are seeking a Marketing Intern to join our team and help expand the national reach of Research Quest. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply your skills in a real-world setting, gain valuable experience in digital marketing, and contribute to a project that has a meaningful impact on middle school science education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Email Marketing: Assist in refining and implementing automated email campaigns aimed at boosting engagement with teachers and middle school students nationwide.


  • Creative Collaboration: Work alongside the Research Quest Digital Engagement Team to develop innovative strategies that elevate Research Quest's visibility and impact.

  • Data-Driven Marketing Experience: Learn practical skills in campaign analytics, A/B testing insights, and translating performance metrics into strategic improvements. 


  • Process: Intern will work remotely, supervised by and collaborating directly with the Research Quest Digital Engagement Team Team meetings held regularly via Zoom Working times are flexible 


  • Qualifications: Graduate student or Junior/Senior Undergraduate studying communications and marketing is preferred Detail oriented, with strong time management, prioritization skills, and project management Self-motivated and eager to develop new skills A high level of flexibility, persistence, and dependability Comfort working remotely Commitment: This is an immediate placement with an expected start date of late August/early September and concludes in December 2026. Intern will work remotely up to 10 hours per week, under the supervision of the Research Quest Digital Engagement Team. 


  • About NHMU: The Natural History Museum of Utah is a vibrant center of scientific exploration and education. Our mission is to illuminate the natural world and the place of humans within it. One of our flagship initiatives, Research Quest, is transforming science education with a series of free, online investigations designed to engage students in dynamic virtual museum activities.


Responsibilities
Position Responsibilities will Include: Developing proficiency in the general use of SharpSpring, Constant Contact's Enterprise Solution Strategically developing automatic email campaigns - both triggered and calendar-balanced - to drive traffic back to Research Quest and increase user activity Designing emails for the email campaigns Building automation workflows, including logic paths for each campaign Reading and analyzing reports on campaigns Documenting workflows, insights, and results

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
Marketing Communication Specialist, I: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.

Preferences
Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience: Previous internships or relevant projects are advantageous but not required.
  • Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong written communication and data analysis skills Comfort learning new software Ability to conceptualize and track complex systems
  • Attributes: Proactive, enthusiastic, and eager to learn Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively Strong collaboration and adaptability in a team environment
