Position description

The XITO Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) seeks one or more lecturers to support the instructional mission of a new teacher education pipeline program rooted in ethnic and feminist studies. The Lecturer(s) will be responsible for developing and teaching courses that prepare undergraduate students to pursue careers in education, with a focus on equity, justice, and culturally responsive pedagogy.

The role involves delivering the academic curriculum for XITO scholars and contributing to a collaborative, interdisciplinary teaching environment across ethnic studies and feminist studies departments.

Duties may include:
  • Teaching a seminar course for XITO undergraduate scholars.
  • Teaching an upper-division undergraduate course, Teaching for Justice.
  • Designing syllabi, assignments, and instructional materials aligned with program goals and student needs.

Qualifications


Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

At a minimum, applicants must be enrolled in a terminal degree program (Ph.D, Ed.D., J.D. or M.F.A.) in Chicana/o Studies or related field at the time of application.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Applicants must have their terminal degree conferred by the time of appointment.

Preferred qualifications

1 or more years of experience in teaching Chicana/o Studies, Latina/o Studies, or Ethnic Studies; and demonstrated subject expertise in Ethnic Studies education.
