Job Summary
The Office of Admissions at CU Boulder welcomes applications for the Associate Director of Transfer Admissions! Reporting to the Director of Recruitment within the Office of Admissions, this position leads strategy for Transfer admissions at the University of Colorado Boulder. Responsibilities include recruiting prospective students, co-leading the application review process, and partnering with colleagues across campus and throughout the state to drive Transfer admission, enrollment, and retention outcomes.
The Associate Director develops and implements a comprehensive Transfer recruitment plan, trains and supports Admissions staff and campus partners on effective Transfer recruitment practices, and crafts clear, accessible communications to help prospective Transfer and First-Year students understand how coursework from other institutions may transfer to CU Boulder.
In collaboration with the Associate Director of Application Review, this role co-designs the Transfer application review process to ensure the timely evaluation of 3,000-4,000 applications annually while shaping an incoming class that meets institutional goals.
This position also partners with the Visit Experience team to design and coordinate meaningful campus visit programs for prospective and admitted Transfer students.
The Associate Director is part of the Admissions Senior Leadership, an office-wide group responsible for coordinating office functions and implementing strategies and policies set by the Directors and Assistant Vice Chancellor of Admissions & Precollege.
The Associate Director will directly supervise one Senior Assistant Director and will serve as a leader and mentor for the Transfer Recruitment team. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Transfer Recruitment Strategy
- Coordinates with the Director of Recruitment and Assistant Vice Chancellor of Admissions & Precollege to create a comprehensive Transfer recruitment strategy.
- Utilizes numerous data sources to inform practices to provide the assistance that prospective Transfer students deserve.
- Practices and assistance include:
- Developing information sessions for prospective students.
- Designing recruitment territories and traveling locally and nationally for recruitment and professional development activities.
- Collaborating with the team of Pre-Transfer advisors on recruitment activities, sharing expertise, and supporting each other's efforts.
- Teaming with the Marketing & Communications team to create and maintain materials (both print and digital) that address the details and nuances of Transfer admission in clear, accessible language.
- Form relationships with colleagues at Colorado community colleges to develop pipelines of prospective students while also supporting the needs of their institutions.
- Partner with the Visit Experience team to provide meaningful campus visit experiences for prospective Transfer students while regularly evaluating program offerings.
- Collaborate with the Associate Director of Application Review to ensure operational and workflow efficiencies, timely completion of assignments, decision consistency, and alignment with institutional goals.
- Partner annually with academic units to determine application review guidelines.
- Maintain connection with Credit Evaluation Services (CES) in the Office of the Registrar to deliver timely Transfer Credit evaluations to newly admitted students.
- Serve as a liaison with the Department of Athletics to review prospective Transfer student-athletes.
- Conduct regular assessments of practices to introduce creativity, stay current on new technologies, and utilize systems such as Slate Technolutions and the National Student Clearinghouse to their fullest potential.
- Serves as a member of the Admissions Senior Leadership Team.
- Recommend strategies, partnerships, programs and technologies that will advance Transfer recruitment and outreach efforts of the university.
- Actively engage in cross-team project planning and management.
What You Should Know
- This position allows for hybrid modality, with the expectation of consistent time on the CU Boulder campus, with the regular expectation of 2-3 days on campus per week. Certain times of year may necessitate more presence on campus or allow for more remote work.
- Some evening and weekend work is required.
- Travel throughout the state and across the country is also required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and regular access to a vehicle to meet recruitment expectations.
What We Can Offer
- The annual salary range is $86,100 - $95,000.

What We Require
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 4+ years of progressively more responsible and independent management experience, including lead or supervisory experience.
- Mentorship type experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
- Possess a valid driver's license and regular access to a vehicle to meet recruitment expectations.
