POSITION SUMMARY
The Dean of Transfer Success has within their portfolio the principal role of advancing our mission of advancing educational attainment and workforce readiness by ensuring we maintain robust transfer pathways for our learners, work with partner institutions to ensure successful transfer, and track transfer success rates post CCA graduation to make recommendations on changes at any point along the way. Under the direction of the AVP, the Dean of Transfer Success provides comprehensive guidance and oversight for transfer-focused initiatives across the division irrespective of instructional program. The Dean researches the viability of new and existing pathways, provides leadership in teaching excellence and student learning, and drives data-informed decision-making with the goal of maximizing student transfer success, completion, and continuous improvement of all related transfer programs. While the dean will work directly with chairs in all transfer programs, the departments under their direct supervision will be English and Communication, Social Sciences, and Behavioral Sciences where they will support the chairs in their own leadership roles and ensure a collaborative, open environment of intellectual curiosity, experimentation, and student support.
A core function of this role is the systematic collection, analysis, and application of transfer data to inform curricular decisions, advising practices, articulation agreements, and strategic partnerships with four-year institutions. The Dean balances the needs of academic departments and their leadership with the larger goals of the College strategic plan, paying particular attention to increasing student retention, transfer rates, post-transfer success, and equitable outcomes across student populations. The Dean demonstrates a leadership and management style that creates an atmosphere of support, motivation, inclusion, and excellence among all academic departments as well as direct reports through utilization of strong interpersonal, communication, and data literacy skills. The Dean maintains consistency in the application of the College's mission and strategic plan at the program level by collaborating with departments and creating efficient, data-driven systems with input from all stakeholders both within the college and among our transfer institution partners.
