Job Summary


The Smead Aerospace Engineering Sciences Department at CU Boulder is seeking a Subject Matter Expert in Space Weather to provide project supervision and continuity for our "Mapping Surface Composition with the SPICE Instrument on Solar Orbiter to Link the Sun's Surface to the Heliosphere" contract with Southwest Research Institute.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Supervise graduate student in conducting original scientific research in support of the Solar Orbiter SPICE investigation.
  • Advise student on PhD requirements in Smead Aerospace Engineering Sciences Department.
  • Co-author research manuscripts.
  • Approve travel and other expenditures associated with contract.

What We Require


30+ years of experience as a subject matter expert in space weather, and 15+ years of experience in guiding engineering graduate students in space weather applications.
