SALARY: Anticipated starting salary is $59,008.00 - $62,000.00. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Mathematics Department seeks an innovative, and student-centered faculty member to teach a broad range of courses, from developmental mathematics through multivariable calculus and differential equations. The successful candidate will engage in curriculum development, assessment, and evidence-based teaching practices; support corequisite and pathways initiatives; and collaborate with colleagues across the institution to strengthen student learning and retention. This role includes academic advising, participation in departmental and college service, and ongoing professional development to maintain disciplinary expertise and integrate emerging pedagogical approaches. This position is a full-time, tenure track faculty position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach mathematics courses as assigned in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Participate in the development, implementation and assessment of pedagogical methods that facilitate student understanding and retention of mathematics concepts.
- Participate in ongoing revision and development of curriculum and effective delivery methods for mathematics courses including pathways initiatives, corequisite models and alignment across the developmental to calculus sequence.
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to maximize student retention and success, develop critical thinking skills, and support a learner-centered environment.
- Participate in determining appropriate goals/objectives and outcomes for various mathematics courses.
- Work collaboratively with faculty and staff from other departments and disciplines.
- Provide academic advising to diverse student populations, including traditional, nontraditional, and first-generation students.
- Participate in appropriate college service activities (e.g., committee membership, development of/enhancement to courses and/or resources, program review, recruitment and retention activities).
- Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain disciplinary expertise and integrate emerging pedagogical approaches, technologies, and equity-minded practices.
- Participate in the coordination of departmental courses and initiatives, as needed.
- Travel between campuses as needed to fulfill workload requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Job Requirements:
- Master's Degree or higher in Mathematics required. Master's Degree or higher in an applied scientific mathematics curriculum along with significant mathematics teaching experience may be considered.
- Minimum of three years of recent teaching experience in mathematics.
- Demonstrated ability and excellence in teaching a range of college-level math courses. The College's current course range includes Statistics; Quantitative Reasoning; Finite Mathematics; Math for Elementary School Teachers; Precalculus; Linear Algebra; Discrete Structures; Calculus sequence for engineering and science majors; Differential Equations.
- Effective oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and interpersonal connection with a student population that is highly diverse in academic preparation, cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds as well as physical and learning disabilities.
- Commitment to the mission of the community college, to teaching excellence, and to the maintenance and continuous improvement of high standards for student learning
- Candidate will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Community college teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability and excellence in teaching developmental/pre-college level mathematics courses.
- Proficiency with student-centered mathematics software and instructional technologies.
- Experience with the integration of technology, student-oriented mathematics software, and multimedia formats in the development and delivery of instruction.
- Experience in online and/or hybrid course development and teaching.
- Knowledge of current trends in mathematics education.
- Experience in developing and assessing Student Learning Outcomes.
- Knowledge and experience with creative and innovative instructional techniques to facilitate the student learning process.
