Job Summary:

The School of Dental Medicine (SDM) is looking for a Human Resources Professional to support the SDM workforce community through position management, HR talent acquisition and recruitment, as well as faculty and staff hires. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and will collaborate with several other HR professionals throughout the SDM and the university. This is a fully independent position, and will be an important resource to the School of Dental Medicine.

We are seeking human resource professionals who are looking to develop new initiatives and are experienced with position management and recruitment. We welcome applications from individuals who are collaborative, communicative, detail oriented, organized, proactive, able to think critically, focused on quality, dedicated to personal growth, and highly motivated and responsible. The position is located at the University of Colorado Anschutz. Hours will be dependent on business need (i.e., career fairs, employee consultations, professional development), but typically will be Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00 pm. Hybrid options are considered and will be determined by the SDM HR Director.

Key Responsibilities:

Position Management: 30%
  • Independently creates, revises, and processes positions through a complete position management process based on the needs of the individual units of the school.
  • Analyze position requests and job descriptions, and make recommendations on possible classification and levels, based on different factors for Classified and University staff and faculty.
  • Ensure accurate vacancy reports, position approvals, and position management processes to help the Director of HR and Chief of Staff make decisions on organizational structures in the school.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of job descriptions for all positions, and serve as a resource to units and managers to draft accurate job descriptions for positions requested.
  • Ensure that all employees have accurate and updated job descriptions in personnel folders.


Talent Acquisition & Recruitment: 40%
  • Independently coordinate the approval and posting of positions in Taleo and other recruitment sites as needed in coordination with hiring managers and leadership.
  • Independently coordinate the talent acquisition and recruitment processes for SDM and provide consultative support for various SDM unit, division, and departments.
  • Responsible for tracking accurate and timely position data and records.
  • Coordinate and attend various career fairs, career and recruitment events, and other events such as the RMDC to represent the School of Dental Medicine.
  • Serve as a resource to hiring managers and search committees to help screen, interview, and disposition candidates.
  • Collaborate closely with campus HR to review and disposition classified staff candidates.
  • Coordinate with units and hiring managers to schedule interviews and send referral lists for classified and university staff positions when needed.
  • Serve as chair of search committees when needed, and provide assistance and advise on interview processes.


Staff & Faculty Hiring: 25%

  • Receive and independently process all hire requests for Classified and University staff, as well as faculty, research faculty and Per Diem faculty for the School of Dental Medicine.
  • Collaborate with campus HR to obtain hire approvals and compensation for positions.
  • Engage with candidates to offer positions and provide assistance as needed.
  • Draft letters of offer for positions and obtain required approvals and signatures.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other HR professionals in the SDMHR unit to ensure smooth process for onboarding of employees.


Other Duties: 5%
  • Process a variety of human resource transactions using university business applications and technologies.
  • Remain current and up to date on human resources, university staff, and classified policies and laws and communicate changes as necessary to management and staff.
  • Contribute to the implementation, interpretation, and revision of SDMHR programs, policies, and procedures according to institutional and legal rules and regulations (i.e., university, classified, equal pay act, etc.).
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality following CORA, FLSA, HIPAA rules and regulations in regard to record retention.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with internal and external offices related to assigned HR functional areas working with Employee Services, campus HR, faculty, and the SDM workforce community; collaborate with campus HR and Employee Services to resolve issues.
  • Serves as an SDMHR back-up for non-assigned HR functional areas whenever needed.




Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Senior Professional Level
  • A bachelor's degree in in Human Resources, Business, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, Communications or related field from an accredited college or university. Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience working in human resources recruitment or other HR function
  • Principal Professional Level
  • A bachelor's degree in in Human Resources, Business, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, Communications or related field from an accredited college or university. Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience working in human resources in recruitment or other functional areas of HR.
  • 2 years of experience working in a medical center or academic medical center human resource capacity.


  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.


  • Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with the State of Colorado classified positions.
  • 4 years of professional experience working in a human resource generalist position.
  • 3 years of experience working in an academic medical human resource capacity.
  • Experience working with HRIS data effectively analyzing as well as identifying gaps and/or recommendations for change.
  • Experience with faculty positions and recruitment
  • Experience with the University of Colorado Denver's Human Capital Management (HCM) system.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate a broad range of laws, rules, and regulations in order to exercise good judgment in applying them to human resource challenges.
  • Ability to manage financial and accounting information systems.
  • Ability to analyze financial and accounting information to identify as well as correct variances.
  • Ability to administer time collection, employee funding, and payroll.
  • Knowledge of the professional standards, concepts, and practices of recruitment and selection, employee relations, or organizational development and human resource policy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, including public speaking.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Thorough knowledge of current management and leadership methods and best practices.
  • Knowledge of professional standards, concepts and practices related to Human Resources.
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality while working with sensitive information.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE

Senior Professional: $51,367 - $65,339 annually

Principal Professional: $59,073 - $75,141 annually

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
