Job Summary:
The College of Health Science & Public Health at Eastern Washington University is currently seeking a Tenure-Track Faculty, Open Rank ranging from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor for the School of Nursing (SoN). Appointment rank will depend on the qualifications of the selected candidate(s). We will select one or more positions from this applicant pool. Position(s) are expected to start on August 16, 2026. The appointment will be for Fall Semester of the 2025-2026 academic year and will continue as a nine-month academic year appointment.

Assistant, Associate, or Full Professors report to the SON director. Professors are full-time, tenure-track faculty who are responsible for teaching in classroom, clinical, laboratory, and simulated learning environments. Tenure track faculty teach theory and clinical courses in the nursing program; mentor student research; serve on department, college, university and professional committees; conduct research for publication, grant acquisition and presentation; participate in outreach to the community; and demonstrate teaching excellence, professional growth and service. Faculty follow all guidance from the collective bargaining agreement regarding their position.

Additionally, all faculty are expected to actively participate in assessment of student learning and to engage in effective teaching.

The expected salary upon hire is $76,368 (Assistant Professor) and $88,997 (Associate Professor). Required Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in nursing
  • Terminal degree in nursing or a health or education related field at the time of appointment
  • Unencumbered Washington Registered Nurse license, or eligible for licensure
  • Current healthcare provider CPR certification
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and identities
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs, including universal access of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Additional required qualification to be considered for Associate Professor Rank
  • Six or more years of successful professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five or more years recent clinical experience
  • One or more years of prior experience teaching in a clinical, laboratory, or simulated learning environment
  • Experience working with Canvas or another learning management system

Other Skills and Abilities:

Job Duties:
A Faculty Activity Plan (FAP) will be developed by the end of the first semester of the selected candidates appointment, and will consist of a combination of teaching, research, service and/or release time to perform administrative duties, as negotiated and as needed to meet the demands of the department.

Typical workload for this position will involve 24 credits per academic year (80% of the workload), subject to department needs.

Responsibilities will consist of teaching, research, service and/or release time to perform administrative duties, as negotiated and as needed to meet the business needs of the department.

Teaching Responsibilities:
  • Teach Nursing courses in classroom, clinical, laboratory, and simulated learning environments using a concept-based approach.



Teaching also includes the following additional related responsibilities as defined in the faculty CBA:
  • Meet all scheduled classes
  • Plan, organize and inform students of course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and methods of evaluation including grading scales
  • Schedule and attend office hours
  • Turn in grades according to established deadlines

Additionally, all faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning.Percent of Time: 100
Conditions of Employment:
This position will help develop the nursing program at Eastern. Continuation of the position is contingent on program approval by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (NCQAC) and approved budget from the State.

To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than 8/16/2026.

This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

After starting employment, employees will complete the required training via Canvas. Workplace Belonging training will be available on December 1st and should be completed by March 31st, 2026.
