As part of the multi-institution Auraria Campus, which CU Denver shares with Metropolitan State University of Denver and the Community College of Denver, CU Denver's Housing & Dining is an auxiliary organization serving students. The Auraria Campus provides students with a unique educational setting, situated in the heart of a vibrant city, with ample opportunities for academic, professional, and personal development. Through these efforts, CU Denver' Housing & Dining plays an integral role in shaping the overall student experience.

CU Denver's Housing & Dining is responsible for the management of on-campus housing facilities, City Heights and Lynx Crossing, which houses 1200 multigenerational student populations. Our mission is to provide a home away from home where students can be part of a safe and inclusive community in an urban environment that fosters student engagement, academic achievement, leadership, and personal development. Our vision is to create an innovative housing experience that prepares students for their academic and career endeavors while fostering social development.

The Coordinator for Housing & Dining is a full-time professional responsible for overseeing the educational and developmental experiences of our residential communities housing 500 to 700 students. This role is integral in fostering a positive and engaging living environment that supports the academic, personal, and social growth of students. This position will collaborate with campus partners as well as internal and external stakeholders to ensure a holistic and supportive experience for students and guests.

This role requires a proactive approach to student engagement, a strong understanding of student development, and the ability to respond to crises or emergency situations. The Coordinator for Housing & Dining will also help maintain a safe and inclusive living environment by ensuring policy enforcement and upholding the university and department's standards for conduct within the residential communities.

The Coordinator for Housing & Dining will be assigned by Housing & Dining Leadership to one of the following Specialty Assignments: (1) Residential Management, (2) Outreach & Engagement, and (3) Operations & Special Projects. These specialty assignments can change during employment based upon departmental and/or leadership needs. Responsibilities included in these Specialty Assignments may include:

1. Residential Management

  • Coordinate efforts of residential communities for 500-700 multigenerational students living in varied types of room and/or suite-style spaces.

  • At minimum, facilitates individual bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with each direct report and weekly staff meetings with all student staff in the residential communities
  • Serves as a visible and accessible resource in the community for student and family interaction, support, and development.

2. Outreach & Engagement

  • Prepare plans, initiatives, and evaluates the Lynx Living Residential Curriculum, providing engagement opportunities for students to develop within the pillars of connectedness, community responsibility, cultural humility, and leadership development

  • Serve as a liaison for all Living Learning Communities (LLC) efforts
  • Coordinate and manage collaborative efforts with internal and external campus partners on signature events, late-night programming efforts, and monthly programming

3. Operations & Special Projects

  • Supports the efforts and daily operations of the Mail Center

  • Identifies daily facility needs and serves as liaison with Facility Services personnel who provide facility maintenance, custodial and ground services, and construction projects
  • Compiles, reviews, and shares operations activity reports and schedules work appropriately around building activities

Senior Coordinator for Housing and Dining

What you will do:



Supervision and Staff Management



  • Provide direct supervision, training, and support to Residence Life Staff, including but not limited to Resident Assistants (RAs), Programming Assistants (PAs), and Summer Housing Assistants (SHAs)

  • Conduct regular one-one-one meetings and weekly staff meetings to ensure staff are meeting expectations and have the resources they need

  • Evaluate staff performance through ongoing feedback, and mid-year and end-of-year evaluations

  • Co-create and co-facilitate staff development opportunities through professional training, team building activities, workshops, and trainings

  • Address staff concerns, conflicts, or performance issues promptly, providing coaching and corrective action when necessary

  • Assist with interviewing, evaluating, and selecting Residence Life Staff

  • In the case of a staff vacancy, the Coordinators for Housing & Dining with may be asked to support the departmental needs of staff supervision.

On-Call and Crisis Management



  • Serve as part of a rotating on-call schedule to respond to after-hours emergencies and critical incidents within the residential communities

  • Mange and respond to student crisis, including mental health emergencies, medical incidents, and behavioral concerns, following established procedures and protocols

  • Collaborate with internal and external campus partners (e.g., Auraria Campus Police Department, Emergency Personnel, Facilities) during situations to ensure proper handling of incidents

  • Serve as a support system for student staff on-call by answering, advising, and supporting on-site as needed

  • Document incidents thoroughly, including student behaviors, action taken, and follow-up needs in university & departmental reporting systems

  • Conduct wellness checks and follow-up meetings with students

  • Maintain knowledge of university policies, emergency protocols, and local resources to manage a wide variety of crisis situations effectively

Conduct

  • Serve as a conduct educator (also known as hearing officer) for student conduct cases related to residence hall policy violations, including but not limited to noise complaints, alcohol use, and guest policy infractions

  • Review Incident Reports, gather relevant documentation, and communicate with involved parties to assess the details of each case

  • Meet with students alleged to have violated policy, ensuring a fair and educational conduct process

  • Uphold the university's code of conduct and residence life policies, applying consistent and equitable sanctions when appropriate

  • Document hearings, outcomes, and follow-up actions in the university's conduct management system (Maxient), maintaining accurate and confidential records

  • Assist in the development and revision of residential policies, ensuring they align with university standards and best practices in student conduct

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion

  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice within residence halls and across campus

  • Support staff in integrating DEIJ principles into their daily work, including program development and community building efforts

  • Monitor and respond to issues of bias, discrimination, and harassment, ensuring appropriate reporting and follow-up procedures are followed

  • Collaborate with university DEIJ offices and external organizations to stay informed on best practices and emerging trends

  • Promotes an environment in the residential communities that supports the academic mission of the university, the Division of Student Affairs, and the mission of Housing & Dining Services

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Two (2) years of professional experience working residence life, student/academic support, student conduct, event planning, or related experience.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific years of experience

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Experience working in Housing/Residence Life in Higher Education.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, StarRez, Maxient, or Salto.

  • Experience supervising staff.

Conditions of Employment

  • Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required.

  • This position requires an onsite presence on campus 5 days a week.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $51,226 - 56,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
