The School of Music at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks a dynamic choral conductor/educator with teaching and performance/research interests that complement the specializations of the current choral-area faculty. The successful candidate will work in a program that values excellence in both performance and scholarship in the area of choral music, and will join the non-tenure-track faculty at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor. This annually renewable position is funded for three years. Therefore, based on good performance, a successful candidate may anticipate three years of service with any subsequent renewals based on performance and availability of funding. The proposed start date for this appointment is August 16, 2020. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who will complete their doctorate by August 2020, but equivalent professional experience will be seriously considered. College-level teaching experience is strongly preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will demonstrate professional excellence through choral performance; contribute to the teaching of a diverse choral curriculum, including conducting and choral literature courses for music education, choral music, and other music majors at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; lead an ensemble of both majors and non-majors, and engage in recruiting and community engagement initiatives.Teaching assignments outside the choral area (such as in aural skills) may be possible for those with appropriate training and experience.
