Salary:
CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,609 - $5,079 per month
Anticipated Starting Salary: $3,609 per month

Note: This is a full-time (40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position

Organizational Description:
The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships supports the University by administering and coordinating all student financial aid programs at California State University, Fresno. The office is responsible for administering federal, state, institutional, and scholarship aid in excess for $250,000,000 annually to approximately 80% of Fresno State students.

Overview:
Under the supervision of the Associate Director, the Financial Aid Technician requires a thorough knowledge of the policies and procedures of various federal, state and institutional financial aid and scholarship programs. This position performs technical tasks associated with the delivery of aid funds to students and provides advice and assistance to students, parents and campus staff on a variety of financial aid programs.

Position Summary:
Major duties of the job include:
· Analyzes, reviews and corrects financial aid data elements in the student forms portal, CampusLogic, and student database, PeopleSoft
· Performs student aid processing functions, such as need analysis and verification of student and parent data provided on financial aid applications and supporting documentation, in accordance with federal and state guidelines
· Processes and updates student files and award calculations to ensure timely delivery of aid funds to students
· Exercises good judgement and excellent customer service when working with students
· Performs other technical duties as assigned, to support the management of various specialized aid programs by the Financial Aid Counselors
· Provides advice and assistance to students, parents and the community through various points of contact including the Student Service Center windows, Financial Aid and Scholarships phone center, department email, and outreach events
· Maintains strict confidentiality of all student information in compliance with FERPA regulations
· Participates in staff training and reads assigned information and materials to stay current on knowledge necessary to perform the job effectively and efficiently
· Supports the mission of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships and the University
· Performs other related work duties in financial aid as needed

Education and Experience:
· High School graduate or equivalent
· Equivalent of two years of responsible, general clerical experience in a college or university financial aid office, at any level

Preferred Skills:
· Experience in a CSU financial aid office
· Experience with verification and/or awarding of financial aid
· Experience with financial aid PeopleSoft
