Position Description

This position serves as a key leader in the Albers Career Center by working with undergrad students, supporting employer relationships, managing key events and overseeing job and placement data.

Essential Responsibilities

Employer Relations/Recruitment Management (50%)
  • Manage and develop recruiting relationships with current employers including on-campus and virtual recruitment events. Help employers identify visibility and branding opportunities through workshops, company information sessions, interview schedules and office hours.
  • Meet with current employers to determine their needs and develop recruitment strategy, whether independently or in partnership with the ACC Associate Director and/or Career Engagement Office.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to employers.
  • Recruit current employers to participate in career panels or seminars, networking events, and career fairs quarterly for students.
  • Partner with ACC Associate Director on recruitment and development strategies for new employers. This could include identifying new employers to invite to career fairs or participate in panels, networking events, etc.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of Handshake (SU's job & internship board). Ensure database integrity. Support and troubleshoot Handshake issues for employers and students. Use Handshake analytics to inform team decisions.
  • Manage and coordinate the annual Business & Engineering Career Fair connecting students to employers. Event coordination includes recruiting employers; creating marketing materials for students; on-campus logistics or virtual career fair platform; marketing event to students via email, social media, and faculty partnership; partnering with Career Engagement Office to involve engineering employers and students; providing exceptional day of service to employers and students; creating and presenting career fair prep workshop for students.
  • Serve as primary liaison to the Career Engagement Office with employer relations and winter university-wide career fair. Ensure seamless delivery of services to employers.
  • Manage end of the year Employer Roundtable event. Create agenda and discussion topics to foster deeper relations with our key employers.
  • Create Employer Guide yearly highlighting Albers students and ways for employers to engage with students.
  • Coordinate quarterly Company Treks which involve taking a group of Albers students to a company location for a tour, presentation, and engagement with professionals and alumni.
  • Regularly maintain and update Career Forge ERM system.

Student Advisor (30%)
  • Provide guidance and support to Albers undergrad students and recent alumni on career exploration, securing job and internship opportunities, and professional development.
  • Advise students in a one-on-one setting on topics such as resumes and cover letters, interviewing, career assessments, job and internship search, and networking strategies.
  • Serve as primary liaison to a couple Albers clubs. Meet quarterly with Albers Club Presidents to maintain open communication with clubs and look for ways to collaborate and generate synergy and support of ACC to Albers Clubs. Help employers connect with Albers Clubs when requested.
  • Create and present classroom presentations for Albers faculty on career related topics.

Career Center Operations Management (10%)
  • Manage daily office operations of the Albers Career Center. Establish policies and procedures for Office Assistants, front desk, and support of operations for ACC staff.
  • Hire, train and manage 3-4 student employees (Office Assistants). Delegate administrative duties of the center to the student employees including managing the Handshake student tracking database. Look for ways to develop student employees and provide professional development.
  • Manage and reconcile ACC budget utilizing Inform SU. Create monthly reports and present findings to the Director. Compile year end analysis of revenue and expense by event/program.
  • Collect and compile year-end stats for year over year analysis of the services in the center.
  • Manage weekly newsletters to undergrad and graduate students highlighting key events, resources, employer highlights and new jobs and internships for the week.

Placement Data & Tracking (10%)
  • Administer First Destination Survey through Handshake to seniors quarterly.
  • Manage gathering of placement data through Handshake FDS survey, LinkedIn, outreach to employers and Albers faculty and ACC partners to increase response and knowledge rate.
  • Track and gather placement data for Poets & Quants and university Career Outcomes Report. Identify ways for greater accuracy in collection and analysis of student data. Compile placement tracking spreadsheets for all Albers UG students and seniors.
  • Compile yearly placement data results and produce end of the year career outcomes report.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in student development, business, human resources or related area is required OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in career development, human resources, recruiting or a related field.
  • Experience with project management and event coordination.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with a variety of constituents (students, alumni, faculty, employers, university administration, and corporate executives).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills are required.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks at one time.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and the university's mission, vision, and values.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An MA, MS, or MBA degree is highly desirable.
  • Experience advising undergraduate students is preferred.
  • A strong working knowledge of career development, job search strategies, job market trends, and employer relations is a plus.
  • Supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Handshake system is helpful.
  • Experience using social media such as LinkedIn.
  • Experience with CRM databases.

Compensation at a Glance:

Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible*
This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory work period of 3-6 months.
