Job Description:
The Campus Outreach Specialist is a critical member of the Campus Outreach team within Syracuse Abroad and will be responsible for implementing a strategy for recruiting Syracuse University students to participate in Syracuse Abroad programs and positively representing Syracuse Abroad across the Syracuse University campus community. This includes participation at on campus recruitment events, classroom presentations, distribution of information about our study abroad programs, conducting general advising sessions, and management of our Global Ambassador program. This role will also be responsible for organizing and executing special recruitment events throughout the year including Syracuse Abroad Week and Welcome Week, along with the creation of new and dynamic programming. This position requires a highly motivated and organized individual with strong communication skills who is comfortable speaking in front of audiences that include students, parents, and campus administration.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree required.
  • Three (3+) plus years of experience in higher education, enrollment/recruitment, and/or marketing and communications is preferred.
  • Experience studying, living, or working abroad is preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with academic departments, academic advisors, and student organizations to host targeted programming events, presentations or initiatives, and distribute information about study abroad.
  • Schedule and execute classroom presentations throughout the semester in a variety of departments.
  • Create PowerPoint presentations for different constituencies. Contribute to strategies for cross-campus collaborations.
  • Organize, plan, and execute special events (i.e. Welcome Week, Study Abroad Week, alumni events, Fall/Spring receptions, etc.).
  • Schedule spaces on campus, coordinate with vendors, set up materials and secure staffing.
  • Evaluate attendance and effectiveness of events.
  • Coordinate with various campus offices to be present at their events.
  • Lead a team of Syracuse Abroad student global ambassadors (study abroad alumni) in assisting with recruitment, peer advising and re-entry programming on campus.
  • Recruit, organize, train, schedule, and supervise volunteer student study abroad alumni.
  • Solicit regular feedback from them to drive student-led programming.
  • Support general advising initiatives at our Syracuse Abroad at Bird Library location.
  • Conduct general advising appointments, upkeep promotional materials, maintain cleanliness, address concerns with the space.
  • Contribute new ideas for creative ways to utilize the space.
  • Stay up to date on all aspects of programs at Syracuse Abroad centers, Syracuse summer programs, and those offered through partner programs.
  • Engage in domestic and international travel as needed. Attend study abroad fairs at partner institutions and/or represent Syracuse Abroad at professional conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned.
