Description:
Applications are invited for a full-time, non-tenure-track Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics position beginning August 1, 2027. The teaching load is eight courses per year, distributed across the Fall and Spring semesters.
The Department of Mathematics is the academic home for research and teaching in mathematics at Southern Methodist University (SMU). In addition to our traditional undergraduate programs in applied and pure mathematics, the department participates in programs in data science and has launched a new major in mathematical economics. Qualifications:
Applicants who hold a Ph.D. in mathematics or a related field by the time of appointment are preferred, although exceptional candidates with an M.S. degree will also be considered. Candidates should expect to teach primarily entry-level mathematics courses, such as Precalculus, Calculus I, and Business Calculus. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and education and be willing to contribute to curricular development and mentorship.
