Part-Time Dual Language Professional Tutor - Spanish-English
Campus Location: Lynn & Danvers
Work Schedule: Up to 20 hours a week
SALARY: $36.55/hr., non-benefited, MCCC unit position

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Provide individualized and, as needed, small-group tutoring to support student learning and academic success in both English and Spanish. Assist bilingual and multilingual students in developing academic skills, strengthening language proficiency, and achieving their educational goals within an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in assigned subject areas, preferably in mathematics and English Composition in both English and Spanish, based on student needs.
- Provide individualized and small-group academic support for Dual Language students, helping them develop bilingual academic skills, strengthen content knowledge, and succeed in college coursework conducted in English and Spanish.
- Help students develop effective study strategies, critical thinking skills, time management, and independent learning habits that contribute to long-term academic success.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, tutoring sessions, and learning progress using EAB Navigate or other designated systems.
- Attend required tutor meetings, training, and professional development sessions throughout the year.
- Assist students with scheduling tutoring appointments and checking in and out of the tutoring center.
- Collaborate with the Tutor Coordinator to recruit, onboard, and mentor peer tutors, with an emphasis on supporting multilingual student success.
- Foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive tutoring environment that values diverse languages, cultures, identities, and learning experiences.
- Perform other duties consistent with the responsibilities of a Professional Tutor.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish, with excellent oral and written communication skills in both languages.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting students from diverse linguistic, cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Successful experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
- Candidates must successfully pass a CORI/SORI and/or National Background Check as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience tutoring in mathematics, English composition, Spanish, or other college-level academic areas preferred
- Community college tutoring or teaching experience preferred.
