COMPENSATION:
Pay Rate: $45.00$50.00 per hour
This represents the good faith estimate of the hourly wage range we reasonably expect to pay for this position upon hire, depending on factors such as the selected candidate's experience, training, education, job-related skills, internal equity, and operational needs.
In select cases, and depending on market conditions or exceptional candidate qualifications, compensation may exceed this range, provided it aligns with applicable law and our compensation policies.

SUMMARY:
Assists the Facilities Services Manager with the daily operation, coordination, maintenance, and
repair of building systems and food and beverage service equipment primarily at Snapdragon Stadium, but may also be asked to support San Diego State University (SDSU) main campus locations, and the Imperial Valley Campus store. The position provides day-to-day work direction and operational support to Facilities staff and outside service vendors and serves as a primary point of contact for Aztec Shops Facilities matters at Snapdragon Stadium. This is a hands-on position primarily focused on institutional food service equipment, commercial refrigeration, and related HVAC/refrigeration components, with secondary support for electrical, plumbing, and general facilities repairs as operational needs require. Reports all findings and significant operational issues to the Facilities Services Manager and the Executive General Manager / Senior Associate Director of Snapdragon Stadium.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES DEPENDING ON LOCATION:

Assists the Facilities Services Manager with planning, prioritizing, scheduling, and coordinating daily Facilities work to support safe and reliable operations.
Provides supervision and direction to outside service vendors including diagnosing repairs, gathering estimates, facilitating work, and verifying completion.
Provides day-to-day work direction and guidance to Facilities team members to help ensure assigned work is completed safely, correctly, and on schedule, with the tools and resources necessary to be successful.
Works with less experienced staff in a training and mentoring capacity and supports staff development in food service equipment maintenance, HVAC/refrigeration operation, troubleshooting, and safe work practices.
Communicate clearly with staff and management alike, have exceptional organization and scheduling skills, and be able to work unsupervised.
Serves as the main point of contact for Facilities matters at Snapdragon Stadium during emergencies, and departmental issues in the absence of the Facilities Services Manager to ensure operational needs are met.
In the absence of the Facilities Services Manager, monitors Issue Tracks and other assigned work to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner and escalates concerns to the departmental Director as needed.
Inspects, diagnoses, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs plumbing, heating, water, commercial refrigeration and related HVAC systems and equipment, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, split systems, controls, and related components.
Inspects, maintains and repairs electrical systems and components including 120v and 208v, electrical switches, outlets, lights, ventilation fans.
Bi-weekly meeting with GM of Concessions, Executive Chef and GM of Premium on maintenance issues
Performs routine and preventive maintenance on refrigeration, HVAC, and food service equipment to support system reliability, efficiency, and occupant comfort, including filter replacement, cleaning, inspections, and equipment adjustments.
Troubleshoots electrical and mechanical issues in HVAC/refrigeration systems and institutional food service equipment and coordinates repairs, upgrades, and system replacements as needed.
Monitors refrigeration and related HVAC equipment for proper operation and maintains or calibrates system controls and sensors; works with equipment control systems and building automation systems (BAS) when relevant to supported equipment.
Handles refrigerants in compliance with EPA requirements, including proper recovery, handling, and disposal procedures, and follows applicable manufacturer specifications, building codes, and safety standards.
Partners with Building Manager (currently Oak View Group) on all building related issues including building systems, building construction, alterations and repair work including plumbing, heating, water, drainage, drywall, carpentry, painting, and other miscellaneous construction tasks.
Coordinates with Executive General Manager / Senior Associate Director of Snapdragon Stadium to perform maintenance and repair work with a focus on minimizing downtime of food and beverage service equipment and restoring equipment to safe, reliable operation.
Inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs food service equipment such as fryers, slicers, ovens, grills, food processors, dish machines, thermopiles and infiltrate controls, relays, safety pilots, calibration devices and burners.
Completes miscellaneous skilled and semi-skilled tasks of an emergency nature.
With budgetary approval from Facilities Services Manager and the Executive General Manager / Senior Associate Director of Snapdragon Stadium, prepares purchase order requests, processes invoices for payment, orders/purchases supplies and materials.
Maintains accurate written records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, system settings, and work accomplished.
Works a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends during events, and may be contacted as needed for after-hours emergencies for Snapdragon Stadium, San Diego State University main campus, and Imperial Valley campuses.
Develops and maintains positive working relationships with coworkers, building security, vendors, Oak View Group facilities team, staff, and university personnel.
Adheres to all lock out, tag out (LOTO) safety procedures.
Must comply with and ensure continued, consistent compliance with all company policies, and federal, state, and local laws/regulations including but not limited to: employment, safety, and health.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
The minimum requirement for applicants is a High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) degree; plus a minimum of four years of increasingly responsible experience in maintenance and repair of commercial food service, refrigeration, HVAC, or related mechanical/electrical equipment, including at least three years of hands-on HVAC/refrigeration troubleshooting and repair experience. EPA Section 608 Certification is required. Current HVAC and/or refrigeration technician certification or recognized trade credential is required.
Demonstrated journey-level skill in equipment troubleshooting and repair, with the ability to provide work direction, training, and guidance to Facilities staff and outside service providers.
Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of plumbing, heating, electrical, electrical and mechanical equipment, water and HVAC equipment and related installed equipment is required.
Additional or supplemental experience in one or more of the following specific trades is highly preferred: plumbing, HVAC maintenance, electrical, carpentry, metalworking, tile setting, painting and wall finishes, drywall, automotive/small engine repair.
Must have the ability to read and interpret equipment schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, technical manuals, and basic building plans as needed to diagnose and repair equipment
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, organization, communication, customer service, and scheduling skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
This position will involve operating a company vehicle and/or golf cart on university or company property. As such, candidates must have a valid driver's license and have not been issued more than three moving violations or have been responsible for more than three accidents (or any combination of more than three thereof during the past 12-month period). Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and will be required to provide proof of driving eligibility upon hire.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read, write and understand English. Requires the ability to read, interpret and work from plans, drawings and specifications.
Requires the ability to follow verbal and written instructions, guidelines and objectives.
Requires the ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and interpret general business information, governmental regulations, and technical/trade journals. Requires the ability to write reports and communicate effectively using telephonic, written, and electronic means.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Requires the ability to make arithmetic computations such as calculations of power consumption, amperage and voltage requirements.
REASONING ABILITY:
Requires the ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out general written or oral instructions. Must be able to multitask, prioritize work and pay attention to detail. Requires good analytical, quantitative skills and organizational skills.
MANUAL DEXTERITY:
Must be able to utilize a computer. Requires the ability to use a variety of materials and tools used in miscellaneous building and repair work, equipment maintenance.
PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION:
Must have the ability to talk/expressing and/or exchanging ideas and hear/perceiving sounds. to allow for normal and emergency communication between individuals and adequate perception of audible warning devices.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical demand requirements are at levels for active work. Must be able to lift equipment components, parts and machinery. Frequent standing, bending, stooping and/or walking/moving is required. May need to ascend/descend stairs. Requires the ability to handle or feel objects, building/electrical materials, or repair tools and materials and reach. Must be able to use body members to work, move and lift or carry heavy objects, equipment or materials up to 50 pounds. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral visions, distance vision, and color vision for reading and interpretation of instruction manuals, work orders, data plated and color coded wiring found in normal 110v 220v wiring (white, black, red and green).
WORKING CONDITIONS AND HAZARDS
When working on Campus, Imperial Valley, or at Snapdragon Stadium, the working environment is typically outdoors walking on concrete; exposure to varying weather conditions such as hot sun and cold rain, and dust, allergens, work temperatures and noise. Work is regularly performed in confined spaces such as tunnels, closets, shafts and trenches that may be dimly lit with exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes and airborne particles. There is some risk of occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and gasses. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Events at Snapdragon could have fireworks, loud announcements, cheering, and music.

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act pursuant to California Penal Code Section 11166.5.
Candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs. This may include opening, mid-day, and closing shifts, as well as night shifts, weekends, and holidays throughout the year.
