Job Summary
The Enrollment Management department at CU Boulder welcomes applications for the Associate Director for Outreach and Engagement! Reporting to the Director of Recruitment within the Office of Admissions, this position co-leads recruitment strategy for prospective students, with a focus on cultivating partnerships with community-based organizations and schools across Colorado to expand awareness of and access to opportunities at CU Boulder. This position recruits and advises prospective students, promotes multiple pathways to enrollment through First Year and Transfer admission, collaborates with school and community leaders to expand educational opportunities, and informs admission review processes to help ensure equitable consideration for all applicants.
In collaboration with the Associate Director of First Year Recruitment and the Associate Director of Transfer Admissions, the Associate Director for Outreach and Engagement analyzes data and trends to inform recruitment strategies that engage prospective students covering a broad range of experiences and geographic regions.
The Associate Director partners with the Associate Director of Application Review to evaluate and enhance First Year and Transfer review processes, promoting fair and consistent application of admission criteria in alignment with the university's mission and values and supporting a campus community enriched by different ideas, viewpoints, and perspectives.
This position also collaborates with Marketing and Communications and the Visit Experience teams to develop messaging and coordinate meaningful campus visit programs that are welcoming, informative, and responsive to the needs and interests of prospective students.
The Associate Director for Outreach and Engagement is part of the Admissions Senior Leadership, an office-wide group that is responsible for coordinating office functions and implementing strategies and policies set by the Directors and Assistant Vice Chancellor of Admissions & Precollege.
The Associate Director will directly supervise 4 staff members on the Recruitment team and will serve as a leader and mentor for the entire Recruitment team. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Outreach and Recruitment Strategy
- Collaborates internally with the Director of Recruitment, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Admissions & Precollege, Associate Director of First Year Recruitment, and the Associate Director of Transfer Admissions and across campus with the departments of Student Financial Services and the Office of Precollege and Engagement to create a comprehensive recruitment strategy.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with rural school districts, community-based organizations, school counselors and community leaders to support recruitment initiatives, assisting students with their college journeys.
- Trains recruitment staff on student-centered recruitment practices that promote fair, consistent, and effective engagement with prospective students from communities across Colorado and beyond.
- Partner with the Visit Experience team to develop meaningful campus visit programs for prospective students, their families and support networks, and college counseling professionals, while regularly evaluating and enhancing program offerings to support engagement and opportunity.
- Develop and coordinate off-campus outreach opportunities throughout Colorado that increase access to CU Boulder for prospective students who may face geographic or economic barriers to participating in on-campus experiences.
- Develop recruitment messaging and communication materials that resonate with prospective students and families from a broad range of communities, backgrounds, and experiences.
- Identify and assess vendor partnerships that enhance prospective student engagement and connect students with opportunities, resources, and communities that contribute to a positive college experience.
- Serve as a member of the Admissions Senior Leadership Team.
- Recommend strategies, partnerships, programs and technologies that will advance transfer recruitment and outreach efforts of the university.
- Actively engage in cross-team project planning and management.
What You Should Know
- This position allows for hybrid modality, with the expectation of consistent time on the CU Boulder campus, with the regular expectation of 2-3 days on campus per week. Certain times of year may necessitate more presence on campus or allow for more remote work. Some evening and weekend work is required.
- Travel throughout the state and across the country is also required.
What We Can Offer
- The salary range is $86,100 to $94,900 annually.

What We Require
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 4+ years of progressively more responsible and independent management experience including lead or supervisory experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
