The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training and internal pay comparison. The School Health Institute Manager provides strategic planning and facilitation for MDPH funded School Health Institute at BUSPH. The goal of SHI is to prepare MA School Health Nurses to serve as clinical leaders, mobilizing teams of educators, services providers and community leaders to address pressing health issues affecting our schools and communities. This program focuses on training and coalition building. In addition, this position will provide leadership in developing training curricula, delivering training and managing stakeholder relationships.

Program Management and staff supervision:

  • Provide day-to-day management of the program offering on-line, in-person and blended courses and adhere to required state standards on school nurse license practice, applying a learning management system that provides accredited CNE.
  • Oversee and supervise a staff of 4-6 in supporting MDPH and school health professionals in providing resources, technical assistance and website support to the Mass DPH and school health professionals.
  • Assess and regularly evaluate the work of own team toward continuous quality improvement
  • Provide funding management and oversight in collaboration with the Principal Investigator to meet programmatic staffing and resource needs
  • Provide training and oversight to new staff hired toward full scope endeavors of providing MA DPH support, collaboration with Dean's Office public health conversations series and BU programming.
  • Develop, implement and train all staff on team on providing assistance to regional consultants in support of school districts, MDPH and other stakeholders
  • Facilitate & Manage relationships with internal BU partners including Center for Continuing Education (CCE), faculty research team, distance learning team
  • In partnership with direct reports and CCE, develop process and procedure for trainee recruitment, registration, evaluation and transcript maintenance.
  • Report on progress to MDPH, BUSPH and other stakeholders and train staff members on reporting guidelines.

    Training & Curriculum Development:
  • Provide subject matter expertise in areas related to child and adolescent health and/or community health
  • Write and review curriculum for accuracy, completeness and reproducibility
  • Deliver trainings (zoom, in-person) according to the annual training calendar
  • Train own staff on provision of services as noted above

    Needs Assessment & Evaluation:

  • Oversee work of all direct reports and engage in regular assessment and evaluation, tweaking delivery of services as necessary to ensure services and trainings are of high quality and meet best practices for adult learning
  • Ensure needs assessment & evaluation plans are implemented at all steps of the training process & program development
  • Help identify evaluation metrics for short term training goals and long-term SHI goals.
  • Ensure that timely training topics are available to the SHI trainee audiences

    Required Skills
    • Master's degree required; doctoral degree (DNP, PhD, EdD, or equivalent) preferred.
    • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • National certification in school nursing (NCSN), certified nurse educator (CNE) or other relevant nursing specialty credential.
    • Demonstrated expertise in nursing curriculum development, continuing professional development, accreditation, quality improvement, and adult learning principles.
    • Proven experience leading large-scale educational initiatives, including online, hybrid, and live educational programming.
    • Demonstrated success supervising and mentoring multidisciplinary teams, including educators, clinical experts, and administrative staff.
    • Record of innovation, collaboration, and success in advancing nursing education and workforce development.
