Position Description
The Associate Director of Sports Medicine provides high integrity and ethical standards to provide quality, effective, and comprehensive health care to as a critical component of providing holistic care to Seattle University student athletes. This position reports directly to the Associate Athletics Director of Health and Performance and will assist in the oversight of the rest of the Sports Medicine Department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative Responsibilities - 50%
- Assist the Director of Sports Medicine with the continued growth of the SU Sports Medicine's allied medical providers through new partnerships and alliances.
- Communicating with team physicians, administrators, coaches, and student-athletes regarding student-athlete health and well-being.
- Develop and deliver to coaches, staff, and student athletes, education related to wellness, injury prevention, and emergency action planning.
- Maintain and update the SU Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Oversee general scheduling while also coordinating physician physicals, in-services, emergency action plan reviews, community partnership events, healthcare team meetings, and performance reviews.
- Billing and insurance coordination
Direct Professional Care - 50%
- Providing high quality athletic health care to specific athletic programs, including: prevention, evaluation, treatment, student-athlete education, and short & long term rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
- Maintaining proper and accurate, up-to-date medical records and injury documentation.
- Working closely with allied medical health professionals to ensure proper and swift medical care.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field and a minimum of five years post graduate experience in the college/university/professional level or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- Current National Athletic Trainer's Association, Board of Certification (NATABOC) and CPR/AED certification.
- Athletic Trainer Licensure through the state of Washington.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience supervising, leading, or directing other staff certified athletic trainers.
- Requires the ability to work several nights and weekends, as well as some holidays.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA, WAC or WCC, or any athletics conference in which Seattle University is a member or may join, and other established bodies that govern or oversee intercollegiate athletics. In the event Employee becomes aware, or has reasonable cause to believe, that violations of these organizations' constitutions, bylaws, rules or regulations may have taken place, Employee shall promptly report the same to Compliance and Rules Education at the University. Employee shall cooperate fully and completely with any investigation of any alleged violation, whether such investigation is conducted by the University, NCAA or any other duly authorized agency or individual.

Compensation at a Glance
Salary Range: $80,000 - $81,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
