SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

This is an exempt educational administrator position. Under the administrative direction of the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Instruction, the Associate Vice President of Instruction plans, organizes, and provides administrative leadership and oversight for the operations, services, and strategic initiatives of the Office of Instruction. The Associate Vice President works in close partnership with the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Instruction to ensure the effective delivery, coordination, and continuous improvement of the College's instructional programs, services, and compliance responsibilities.

The Associate Vice President of Instruction provides leadership, coordination, and analytical support for strategic enrollment management, including the development, implementation, monitoring, and assessment of enrollment strategies, scheduling efficiencies, instructional modality planning, and data-informed decision making to support student access, completion, and institutional FTES goals. In collaboration with campus leaders, deans, and institutional research, the Associate Vice President supports the alignment of enrollment management strategies with program pathways, fiscal stability, and the College's mission and strategic priorities.

The Associate Vice President of Instruction provides oversight and leadership for curriculum development and instructional integrity, supporting faculty, deans, and shared governance bodies to ensure high-quality, compliant, and responsive academic programs.

The Associate Vice President of Instruction supports and coordinates the development, administration, implementation, and reporting of instructional grants and state-funded initiatives managed through the Office of Instruction. This includes oversight of grant applications, compliance with fiscal and programmatic requirements, coordination with internal and external partners, and preparation of required reports to local, state, and federal agencies.

The Associate Vice President of Instruction acts as the Assistant Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) and provides direct leadership and support for accreditation planning, evidence development, reporting, and continuous improvement activities related to instructional programs and services. The position ensures that instructional policies, procedures, and practices comply with accreditation standards, Title 5 regulations, and Chancellor's Office requirements.

The Associate Vice President of Instruction provides highly responsible and complex professional assistance to the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Instruction in administrative, management, analytical, and policy-related matters. The position serves as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team, coordinating communication, information flow, resources, and personnel to support instructional effectiveness and institutional goals.

The Associate Vice President of Instruction may act on behalf of the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Instruction in their absence, ensuring continuity of leadership, operational stability, and compliance.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Leads efforts, programs, initiatives, and services that promotes and builds innovative efforts for the District.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the College's core values, including student success, a supportive learning environment, proactive and innovative practices, collaboration, and valuing diversity.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs instructional support functions to assist the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Instruction in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional processes and services.
  • Provides administrative leadership and oversight for strategic enrollment management, including the development, implementation, monitoring, and assessment of enrollment strategies, scheduling efficiencies, instructional modalities, and FTES and Student-Centered Funding Formula targets aligned with College fiscal and enrollment goals.
  • Leads and supports the development and expansion of data-driven enrollment management strategies, best practices, and operational improvements in alignment with College mission, goals, and institutional priorities.
  • Assists with College-wide strategic planning and institutional effectiveness efforts by developing and implementing strategies to support instructional quality, access, completion, and student success.
  • Fosters integrated planning processes that connect curriculum, program development, enrollment management, budgeting, assessment, and goal setting.
  • Provides leadership and support for curriculum development, review, and instructional quality by collaborating with faculty, deans, and shared governance bodies to ensure compliance with Education Code, Title 5, accreditation standards, and College policies.
  • Collaborates closely with the Academic Senate in reviewing, monitoring, and supporting curriculum and instructional programs; assists with program analysis and planning for curriculum additions, modifications, and discontinuance.
  • Provides leadership and oversight in student learning outcomes assessment and program review processes to support continuous improvement of instructional programs and services.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence, transparency, communication, and effective data-informed decision making within the Office of Instruction.
  • Develops, analyzes, interprets, and disseminates analytical and evaluative information related to instructional programs, enrollment trends, student outcomes, accreditation, and required internal and external reporting.
  • Oversees the preparation, submission, and maintenance of mandated instructional reports in accordance with established timelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Seeks, develops, coordinates, and oversees instructional grants and state-funded initiatives, including grant applications, implementation, compliance, evaluation, and reporting in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Prepares, administers, and monitors budgets for assigned areas of responsibility; analyzes fiscal data and recommends resource allocations to support instructional priorities and enrollment strategies.
  • Serves as Assistant Accreditation Liaison Officer, supporting accreditation planning, evidence development, reporting, and continuous compliance related to instructional programs and services.
  • Assists in ensuring that instructional programs and services comply with College, district, state, and federal standards, requirements, laws, regulations, Board Policies, and Administrative Procedures.
  • Provides leadership on designated College committees, task forces, and work groups addressing instructional, enrollment, accreditation, and institutional effectiveness priorities.
  • Facilitates and supports participatory governance processes and relationships; understands and supports the role of faculty in shared governance as delineated in Education Code and Title 5.
  • Plans and implements organizational and instructional change using inclusive consultation processes and sound change-management practices.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and partnerships with internal constituencies and external entities, including educational institutions, community organizations, business and industry, and governmental agencies; represents the District as assigned.
  • Supervises, trains, evaluates, and supports assigned administrative, supervisory, and classified personnel; promotes professional development and effective team performance.
  • Functions effectively as a member of the College administrative leadership team and collaborates with other associate vice presidents and administrators on College-wide initiatives.
  • Provides technical, administrative, and analytical assistance to the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Instruction regarding instructional services, operations, needs, issues, and initiatives.
  • Represents the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Instruction at meetings, events, and committees as assigned and attends required Board meetings and Board study sessions.
  • Maintains currency of knowledge regarding emerging trends, innovations, regulations, and best practices related to instructional leadership, enrollment management, and institutional effectiveness.

Typical Qualifications


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education/Training/Experience

Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university

AND

One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the

administrator's administrative assignment.

License or Certi?cate

A valid California Class "C" driver's license. Travel to locations throughout the District may be required.
