The Leeds School of Business welcomes applications for an Assistant Director of Graduate Career Management! Reporting to the Director of Graduate Career Management, the Assistant Director is primarily responsible for taking a leadership role in providing job search skill enhancement and assistance to full-time MBAs, professional MBAs, and MS students.
The position encompasses significant leadership in helping to develop classes of graduate students who have a clear plan and focus around their professional goals, since their success in the marketplace is a metric that the school places high value upon. This position is responsible for managing and supporting Graduate business students throughout their job search process and contributing to the Graduate Career Management program.
The Assistant Director acts as a leader of student development activities and continually refines a realistic, implementable job search strategy that leads to a successful internship and permanent employment trajectory. This role will also be responsible for developing and implementing programs and workshops in assigned areas of the job or internship search, such as interviewing, resume writing or negotiation.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Career Strategist
- Lead one-on-one coaching and advising with students in full-time and professional MBA and MS programs.
- Act as a professional career coach for this graduate population, noting the more advanced experience level of these students.
- Manage all aspects of Graduate career strategies and develop feedback mechanisms to ensure positive outcomes.
- Provide leadership around individually-tailored counseling, feedback and assistance to students over the duration of their graduate program, understanding important challenges of one-year programs.
- Create and supervise a coaching career plan for each student's development and continually refine a realistic job strategy work plan for full-time employment; actively monitor each student's progress against career goals; and provide guidance in the achievement of those goals.
- Lead group sessions on professional development, acting as the Career Leader for these aspiring professionals.
- Collect and report on student career outcomes.
Program Management
- Design and conduct workshops, training sessions, and lectures on various career-planning topics being sure to deliver a highly professional level.
- Assist with development and delivery of the Professional Development workshop series.
- Support the Leeds MS Analytics and MBA Mentoring Programs.
- Lead other career-related activities (i.e. off-site interviewing, career fairs, and receptions).
- Additional responsibilities are varied, but feature supporting the Director with projects and assignments which include, but are not limited to: event planning and execution, preparation and reporting of placement statistics, development of relevant reports on corporate engagement, student success, etc.
Corporate and Student Outreach
- Collaborate with the Director in the development and execution of an outreach strategy to target new organizations that will recruit Leeds Graduate students.
- Develop relationships with corporate leaders and recruiters/representatives as a means to understand how to better counsel and prepare students for particular jobs/industries, and coordinate and facilitate the production and distribution of appropriate documents.
What You Should Know
- This role offers a hybrid work modality with a minimum of three days in the office per week. The approximate schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Occasional evenings (approximately 4-6 instances per semester) will be required to support Graduate Program events and advance notice of these events will be given.
What We Can Offer
- The annual hiring range for this position is $62,400-$70,000. Relocation is available for eligible candidates.

What We Require
- Bachelor's degree in business or closely related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- 3+ years of experience in career services, MBA recruiting, or a related business field managing complex projects and/or caseloads.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative.
- Demonstrated digital literacy including proficiency using spreadsheets and databases.
- Ability to collaborate with various partners and team members.
- Ability to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers and clients.
- Ability to build rapport and work in a collaborative manner.
- Discretion and independent judgment, with only general supervision in performing normal day-to-day work (the full range of professional tasks). Ability to provide independent coaching to students.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite applications.
- Superior customer service skills when interacting professionally with corporate recruiters, students, faculty, administrators, and staff exercising tact, discretion, and judgment in all areas of work.
