Coordinator of Clinical Experiences
Empire State University is currently seeking a Coordinator for Clinical Experiences to assist with clinical and licensure components of its teacher preparation programs. The Coordinator for Clinical Experiences works with the Assistant Dean and other members of the Clinical Services and Licensure team to assist students and faculty. The position will serve the teacher preparation programs across the university including both undergraduate and graduate students.
The successful candidate will be able to interpret state regulations and communicate that information effectively to students, faculty, and others across the university through multiple modes of communication including webinars, presentations, and email. The successful candidate will build relationships with stakeholders across the state to facilitate students' clinical experiences in diverse settings and ensure program and school-based support. This will involve frequent communication with potential placement sites across New York State.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide support to the Assistant Dean in partnership management, focus on direct student engagement and assistance, attend meetings, and provide assistance for partnership projects and initiatives.
- Provide support to the Licensure Coordinator, including assistance in management of student accounts in TEACH, clearing students for clinical placements, and responding to related inquiries.
- Provide assistance and management for special projects, including external grants and research, to support the College of Education.
- Support Applied Behavioral Analysis students in their clinical placements and assist with coordinating paperwork and mentor payments.
- Provide support for Residency students.
- Provide support and co-lead field supervisor training.
- Maintain a detailed accounting of student observations with a working spreadsheet to ensure timely submissions for both undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Maintain detailed accounting of field supervisors, their locations, and workloads.
- Assign field supervisor workloads each semester.
- Update and distribute the teacher candidate observation calendar for each semester in collaboration with other Clinical Coordinators.
- Communicate with students regularly and address questions and concerns related to clinical placements.
- Assist faculty with identifying the number of field supervisors needed for content areas and assisting with the hiring process.
- Work with Academic Program Coordinators to assign clinical observations to faculty.
- Support the use of technology related to clinical supervision as appropriate (Learnscape/Watermark).
- Create and maintain teacher preparation program materials including handbooks and detailed tracking documents.
- Participate in program meetings and collaborate with other faculty and staff across the college and university.
- Develop and participate in webinars for both students and staff related to clinical practices and procedures.
- Provide weekly office hours for student questions and concerns.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and external audiences regarding clinical hours and locations, and assist students with questions about program clinical placements and requirements.
- Work to identify and verify supervisors per current standards and assist with recruiting and retaining qualified clinical supervisors.
- Provide ongoing training and support for field supervisors related to standards and expectations, as well as technology.
- Participate in alumni outreach.
- Program and department support as needed.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Prior experience working in Pre-K through 12 or higher education settings.
- Ability to read and interpret SUNY and NYSED Guidelines and Regulations.
- Excellent and effective communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work within a collaborative environment with diverse populations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in education, or a related discipline.
- Experience with NYS Certification and Licensure processes.
- Experience working with higher education faculty and staff.
- Experience working with external partners.
Special Information:
- This position is located in Saratoga Springs, NY.
- Office hours will vary in accordance with student needs. Periodic evening engagement will also be required.
- Occasional travel may be required to fulfill department and university-wide commitments.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.

Rank/Salary: Senior Staff Assistant, SL3 / $60,00-$63,000, dependent on experience and qualifications.
