Classroom Assistant

Job Summary

Youth Education's Classroom Assistant works as the Education Assistant across our Campus Camps program. Campus Camps at the U summer program is built to inspire education, innovation, and imagination. We develop interests and passions through experiential education and extend the resources of the University of Utah to students 17 and under.

Our summer program runs for 10 weeks in the summer, Monday-Friday. This is an in-person position. Applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The selected candidates must be able to attend a paid orientation at the end of May and start work the week of June 1st, 2026 and be available Monday-Fridays. As an Education Assistant you will:
- Learn and implement various classroom management techniques
- Identify different teaching styles.
- Observe how learning abilities differ by age
- Gain experience in Inquiry-based Education

Responsibilities
Classroom Assistants will be responsible for:

- Assisting with classroom management including the direction, supervision, and organization of campers
- Assisting with facilitating activities, helping with field trips, managing supplies, etc.
- Work with Youth Education instructors and staff to ensure program quality
- Deliver extraordinary customer service to all program participants
- Recognize and respond to teachable moments in the group
- Encourage campers to participate in activities by demonstrating excitement and enthusiasm appropriately
- Other duties may be assigned

Minimum Qualifications


Preferences
- At least 18 years old
- Prior experience working with children in a camp or classroom environment
- Self-directed, punctual, and highly organized
- Available consistently throughout the weeks of summer

Work Schedule Summary: - All hours will take place Monday-Friday between 8am-5pm- Shifts will range from 3-5 hours/day, exact schedule may vary from week to week- Ideal candidate is available either every morning (8:30am-12:30pm) Mon-Fri, or every afternoon (12:30pm-4:30pm) Mon-Fri- Example schedule: Monday-Friday: 8:30am-12:15pm or 12:45pm-4:15pm
