Clackamas Community College (CCC) at the Oregon City, Oregon campus seeks to hire one (1) full-time permanent

Division and Department

The department includes 11 full-time and 16 associate faculty members. We offer courses in developmental/college prep reading and writing, college composition, occupational writing, technical writing, creative writing, digital storytelling, literature, film, and publishing, as well as Spanish-language related instruction for programs and certificates taught entirely in Spanish. We also staff the Writing Center, host an annual creative writing conference called Compose, and publish the Clackamas Literary Review.

Duties & Responsibilities

This is a full-time faculty position. The instructor should expect to teach the entire spectrum of composition courses offered at the college but could also bring competence and passion for teaching courses in literature, creative writing, and/or publishing. The instructor may be expected to teach on multiple campuses, in multiple modalities, and at different times of the day and evening. In addition to teaching duties, full-time faculty also serve on committees, participate in processes such as assessment and curriculum review, and engage in other department-, division-, and college-wide assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in English or Composition/Rhetoric

OR
MFA in Creative Writing. MAT will not substitute for Master's degree in English or Composition/Rhetoric
60 quarter credit hours /40 semester hours of experience teaching pre-college reading and writing and/or college-level composition at an institution of higher education within the last five years

Core Competencies

Demonstrable experience teaching developmental reading and writing and/or 100-level composition courses
Demonstrable experience teaching across a range of modalities, including in-person, hybrid, and online
Demonstrable experience and interest in working specifically with community college students, including familiarity with current CC student populations: recent high school graduates, first-generation students, and returning adult learners
Demonstrable experience working with students who have historically been excluded or underserved by higher education
Demonstrable ability or desire to collaborate with colleagues, to engage in the life of the College, and to impart positive change

Preferred Qualifications

Community college teaching experience within the past five years
Experience teaching English literature with emphasis on diverse voices and texts [to cut, preserving for the comments until finalized decolonizing the syllabus]
Experience teaching publishing and/or creative writing with an emphasis on either poetry or playwriting
Experience teaching non-Western literatures in translation
Experience with Study Abroad
Bilingual English/Spanish

Physical Requirements

Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Even though weight lifted may be negligible, it may be rated light work if frequent walking and/or standing is required.

Calendar Contract Information

The successful candidate in this position will work a 10-month contract and be paid for 175 days including six (6) paid holidays, per the Full-Time Faculty Bargaining Agreement.

Starting Salary Expectations

Initial Salary Placement will be Step 3 ($82,843.72 annually) per the CCC Full-time Faculty bargaining agreement.

Benefits

CCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. Includes Health, Dental, and Vision options, Group Life, Long-term Disability, and Long-term Care Insurance programs.
CCC currently funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. A portion of the 6% will be diverted to The Employee Pension Stability Account as mandated by Senate Bill 1049. CCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.
CCC provides a tuition waiver for courses offered at CCC for yourself, domestic partner, and IRS dependents; plus partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions.
CCC qualifies as a public employer under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Terms of Employment

All positions at CCC are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials from a regionally accredited institutions, or the equivalent, as recognized by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) or National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
Your official transcripts will need to be sent from the Registrar of your degree granting institution within 30-days of your hire.
