Job Summary

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering invites applications for the position of Graduate Coordinator I. We are seeking a highly organized, service-oriented professional who is passionate about supporting student success and fostering a collaborative academic environment.

In this role, the Graduate Coordinator will serve as a primary resource for graduate students pursuing degrees in Civil & Environmental Engineering, Construction Engineering, and Nuclear Engineering. The successful candidate will provide knowledgeable guidance to students and faculty on university academic policies and procedures, helping students make informed decisions and progress successfully toward degree completion.

Responsibilities
The following is a list of key responsibilities the position oversees:

  • Guide graduate students from admission through graduation, coordinating records, programs of study, and academic milestones to ensure timely degree completion.
  • Partner with faculty to ensure timely exam completion, defenses, and advising processes, in addition to strengthening student-faculty collaboration.
  • Manage and streamline graduate admissions, including application review coordination, interview processes, admission processes and on boarding once they arrive to campus.
  • Serve as a liaison between the department and the Graduate School, ensuring compliance with university policies while advocating for student and program needs.
  • Support curriculum and program development by coordinating feedback and contributing to graduate committee processes.
  • Enhance the graduate student experience through recruitment initiatives, orientation, mentoring programs, professional development events, and community-building activities.
  • Engage in campus-wide professional communities and departmental initiatives, contributing to continuous improvement and expanding professional expertise.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills
