Job Description:
Madison College is hiring a part-time Student Success Coach within student services. This position provides personalized coaching and academic support to help students overcome challenges, develop essential skills, and achieve their educational goals. The role focuses on motivating students, connecting them with appropriate resources, and adapting support strategies to meet diverse needs, while contributing to institutional goals related to student retention, academic success, and a holistic approach to student support.
The Student Success Coach is housed in the RISE (Retention Initiatives and Student Engagement) Office and works with staff, faculty and administrators from schools and units across the district. RISE is a supportive learning community dedicated to students' academic and professional success. RISE offers advising, coaching, mentoring, tutoring and many ways to engage with RISE students through workshops, events, and celebrations.
Position Details:
Schedule: This part-time position is scheduled for 20 hours per week, year-round (52 weeks), with a flexible Monday through Friday schedule within operational hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm, including operational hours until 6:00pm on Mondays and Tuesdays. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required to support events.
Expected Progression: Upon meeting the outlined criteria, you will be eligible to receive a $1.00 per hour increase.
Grant Funded: This is a grant-funded renewable position through June 30, 2026, with the expectation that it will be renewed.

Accountabilities:
- Builds supportive relationships with students to assess strengths, identify academic goals and uncover barriers that may impact success.
- Promotes student persistence by teaching academic success strategies and guiding students in developing action plans tailored to their individual needs.
- Connects students with campus and community resources to support holistic well-being and reduce barriers to academic achievement.
- Responds to faculty alerts and student concerns by providing timely outreach and follow-up to address academic and engagement challenges.
- Offers accessible coaching through workshops, classroom visits, drop-in support and individual appointments to maintain consistent student contact.
- Provides foundational academic planning support and interprets degree progress tools to assist students in making informed enrollment decisions.
- Documents coaching interactions and tracks student outreach to support coordinated care and inform retention efforts.
- May provide program coordination and event management, including determining event and programming needs, scheduling, facilitating, acquiring resources and providing project management oversight for programs or events.
- Contributes to an inclusive, equitable and supportive environment where everyone at the institution feels valued, respected and empowered to reach their full potential.
- Adheres to college policies, directives and work rules while maintaining a commitment to the college's mission, vision and values.
- Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.

- Knowledge of student development theory, academic coaching practices and factors influencing student retention and success.
- Knowledge of campus and community resources that support students' academic, financial and personal well-being.
- Skill in building rapport and engaging with students.
- Skill in assessing student needs and applying coaching techniques.
- Ability to document interactions and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to manage multiple processes, meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Skill in engaging positively with all populations and communities, contributing to a safe and inclusive learning and work environment.
- Skill in effectively and respectfully communicating with others.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education:
Associates Degree required (Bachelors Preferred) or equivalent additional work experience. - Experience:
1-3 years of relevant work experience.
