Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Statistics
Job Description
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Tennessee at Martin is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position beginning August 1, 2026.
Responsibilities
Teaching 12 hours each semester. Additional responsibilities include university service, academic advising, professional development, curriculum development, and maintaining a program of professional activity that includes research and publication.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics, or a closely related discipline completed by August 1, 2026. Individuals with a Ph.D. in statistics are strongly encouraged to apply. Evidence of successful teaching experience, the ability to maintain a program of professional activity that includes research and publication, and the ability to communicate effectively with undergraduate students with varied levels of academic preparation are required. Classroom experience using technology including graphing calculators is desired.
A letter of application, resume, a statement of philosophy of teaching, unofficial copies of transcripts, and three original current letters of reference must be included with the application. At least one letter of reference should address teaching . Screening of applications will begin March 2, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled.
