Adjunct Faculty: Criminal Justice

Campus Location: Danvers, Lynn as well as other surrounding high school campuses as needed

Work Schedule: Consistent with MCCC contract MCCC unit position

SALARY: Minimum salary is $1,397 per credit hour. Actual salary is commensurate with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement

At this time, the College is not providing sponsorships for Visas.

The Criminal Justice Program which is part of the Division of Human Services and Emergency Response Pathways invites applications to teach Criminal Justice courses beginning fall 2026 (or sooner) on campus and high school sites through the college's Early College program. We anticipate offerings in future semesters as well.

The current openings are for:

Introduction to Criminal Justice: Introduces students to the study of the criminal justice system. Three components of this system, the police, courts, and corrections, will be studied and interrelationships will be shown between components. Outside readings and guest speakers will combine the practical and academic aspects. Fulfills open and liberal arts electives.

Principles of Corrections: The study of the development of correction, including the impact of incarceration on the offender and society.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Teach courses as assigned by the Division Dean.
  • Prepare course syllabi, proctor and grade course assessments as scheduled, report final student grades, and complete student alerts by the specified dates each semester.
  • Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize the learning process and measure student learning outcomes
  • Attend required meetings which may be held virtually, at NSCC Campuses, or at high school sites.
  • Embrace the ideals of diversity and inclusiveness and support the equal rights of all people by advancing the understanding and appreciation of differences including age, race, gender, ability, religious convictions, socio-economic status, ethnic heritage, or sexual orientation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.


Job Requirements:
  • Earned Criminal Justice Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/ university
  • Recent work experience related to the respective course content
  • Demonstrated teaching experience
  • Available to teach in person
  • Demonstrated interest in the field of criminal justice specifically in the delivery of criminal justice services in the community.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to working with a diverse student body and advancing the college's mission
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/ SORI and or National background check as a condition of employment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in the subject area or a closely related field
  • Community College teaching experience
  • Bilingual and/ or knowledge of the Spanish language
