Job Summary
Sr. Director of Research Administration, Operations, & Strategy
Direct/Manage/Supervise the organization's clinical research operations including research coordination, monitoring, interviewing, and patient services. Develop research studies and create standards and guidelines for clinical research services and programs, monitoring adherence to protocols. Ensure clinical research strategies, policies, and procedures are maintained. Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), and all applicable regulations. Prepare reports and keep executive leadership informed of progress and problems.
Provides oversight and supervision of all administrative, staffing, and clinical functions for highly regulated programs, projects, and initiatives within a research program. Facilitates strategic planning, budgetary systems and cost models, and research space management.

Responsibilities
Sr. Director of Research Administration, Operations, & Strategy
Direct/Manage/Supervise the organization's clinical research operations including research coordination, monitoring, interviewing, and patient services. Develop research studies and create standards and guidelines for clinical research services and programs, monitoring adherence to protocols. Ensure clinical research strategies, policies, and procedures are maintained. Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), and all applicable regulations. Prepare reports and keep upper-level management informed of progress and problems.
- Assists executives and/or senior directors in defining organizational goals and strategic plans.
- Extensive business knowledge with comprehensive understanding of the organization and functional area.
- Provides oversight and supervision of all administrative and clinical functions for highly regulated program/s, projects, and initiatives.
- Implements and regulates strategic planning concepts, forecasting, budget systems, financial accounting, development of cost models, personnel/payroll operations, facilities and space management, and research administration for the department.
- Reviews and authorizes revenues and expenditures; reviews and exercises signatory authority for all administrative documents, including personnel, grant applications and contracts, early account number authorization, and contract modifications for the department.
- Supervises staff, including hiring, distributing and reviewing work, performance reviews, and documenting disciplinary actions and will work with the Human Resource Director regarding HR administration. Manages work schedules and approves timecards. Provides professional development opportunities. Ensures that all facility personnel and users are proficient in, and adhere to, standard practices and techniques, including proper protocol implementation.
- Coordinates and oversees all reporting functions, including the annual report and business plan, required reports, and progress reports for sponsored research.
- Oversees the development and enforcement of standard operating practices and development of biosafety manual. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Partners with faculty to optimize research concepts for fundability; provides strategic guidance and operational support for grant development, feasibility assessment, and proposal preparation to accelerate funding success and efficient study execution.
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
Senior Manager, Clinical Research: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.
Associate Director, Clinical Research: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 10 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 8 years of directly related work experience.
Director, Clinical Research: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 12 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 10 years of directly related work experience.
Senior Director, Clinical Research: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 14 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 12 years of directly related work experience.
