Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, directs the oversight and management of the College of DuPage Employee Development Center (EDC). The position is responsible for the strategic planning and subsequent implementation and measurement of employee orientation, training and development, compliance training, and performance management for affected employee groups.

  • Lead, develop, manage and supervise department team members to ensure organizational, department and individual success.
  • In collaboration with College Leadership, research, design, implement, monitor and evaluate training and development programs for COD employee groups.
  • Leveraging current research and best practices in adult/andragogical learning, analyze needs to develop new training or development programs or modify and improve existing programs.
  • Oversee the administration of new employee orientation and employee onboarding. Support the development and constant process improvement of a comprehensive employee lifecycle program to ensure employees are supported from the onboarding process, throughout their employment, and when they leave the College.
  • Work with the Human Resources leadership team to develop and coordinate learning, training or development based on needs identified through HR interactions and consultations.
  • Confer with leadership and constituency groups to assess development needs through various feedback methods.
  • Consult with department supervisors and College leadership to recommend solutions for department challenges and opportunities, providing learning interventions as needed.
  • Deliver training or facilitate meetings with department as needed. Provide facilitation services and training as requested by College leadership.
  • Coordinate faculty training needs in conjunction with the Coordinator, Faculty Development and other Academic Affairs partners.
  • Research and recommend outside facilitators and trainers for College training or meetings.
  • Facilitate and deliver training as appropriate.
  • Develop training and development strategic plan for recommendations to the Vice President, Human Resources.
  • Oversee the employee Learning Management Systems (LMS) of the College, to include evaluation and assessment of LMS capacities and make recommendations to the Vice President of Human Resources as necessary.
  • Provide oversight for Staff Development Days activities.
  • Work with College departments to provide requested training and teambuilding.
  • Maintain records of employee participation and instructor evaluations for all compliance, training and development offerings. Partner with departments to house their required training records within the employee LMS.
  • Serve as liaison to and participate on institutional committees as appropriate.
  • Solicit and review proposals for internal development workshops and courses.
  • Participate in grants as they relate to the training and development programs.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
      • Master's degree in related field preferred.
    • Experience
      • Minimum five years proven track record in the development, implementation, and facilitation of training and development programs for all levels of staff required.
      • Significant knowledge of Adult Learning Theory required.
      • Advanced consultative skills and the ability to effectively facilitate training classes and meetings required.
      • Direct experience developing training and development strategic plans and managing and developing a training and development budget required.
      • Strong customer service orientation required.
      • Proven track record in managing training and development projects from development to implementation including program maintenance required.
      • Appropriate experience with E-Learning tools and technology required.
      • Proven track record in identifying training programs and vendor selection.
      • Proven track record in managing staff required.
      • Proficiency in written and spoken English required.
      • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
      • Professional experience in an academic institution a plus.
      • Experience in a union environment preferred.


  • Utilize standard office equipment including computers to perform the duties of this position.

  • Pay grade: 15 ; Starting salary beginning at $112,170/annually. Competitive starting salaries are dependent on education and experience. College of DuPage also offers a generous benefits plan.
